Great location, clean rooms , friendly staff. Would stay here again. Breakfast dining room was a bit small and crowded. All rooms should have balconys. The location and views were incredible. Indoor pool was small but outdoor was nice.

Thank You for sharing your experience at Hampton Bar Harbor. Indeed, the peaceful hilltop location surrounded by ocean, islands, and the mountains of Acadia provide the very BEST and spectacular views on Mt Desert Island. I'm happy to hear you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again.

The hotel was very nice and they have fresh cookies in the afternoon. The breakfast was good and had a decent selection. If you want a nice view of the water make sure to get onto at least the 3rd floor. The hotel is a little hard to find since you have to go up a side road and up a hill, but if you have GPS it shouldn't be a problem. It's an easy drive to Acadia National Park and to Bar Harbor.

We flew into Bangor and made the short drive into Bar Harbor for a mid/late June visit. While the weather did not cooperate for us, the Hampton Inn Bar Harbor was excellent. It started with the staff at check-in who made us feel at home, providing stuffed animals for the kids (a real hit!). My wife and I are both Hilton Honors Gold and the service we received in Bar Harbor was competitive with the best we receive through Hilton.

The hotel and grounds were immaculate. We found the pool clean and well appointed each day we used it. The fitness center was well laid out and equipped. The laundry facilities were clean and efficient, though the dryer did not fully dry our clothes.

We really enjoyed the location as it was quiet and allowed us easy access to everything we needed (Acadia and Bar Harbor). We made two trips to the grocery store which is only a few minutes away. The location even allowed me to run from the hotel and along the shore path and back for a very nice ~3 mile run at sunrise. It was great.

We found the breakfast sufficient to get the day started. The always stocked lobby coffee/tea and PM stocked cookies were excellent and really hit the spot.

Our room was quiet and clean with an ok view (due to the weather more than positioning). Overall, we did not find anything wrong with the hotel. As a relatively new Hampton Inn, everything is in great shape and it fully met our needs. We gladly recommend the Hampton Inn Bar Harbor to anyone looking for a clean and well appointed hotel from which to visit Acadia and Mount Desert Island.

Thank You for choosing Hampton Bar Harbor for your recent visit in Maine, and thank you for your loyalty to the Hilton Brand. We sincerely appreciate your thorough and most kind review, and as a result of your note we will immediately check the dryer vent pipes for air flow and thank you for letting us know. I'm so glad to hear you enjoyed your stay and hope to welcome you again.

This hotel is newer which makes it nice. It's in a location near Acadia National Park which makes it convenient for those visiting the park.

However, the price is outrageous for a typical Hampton Inn Hotel. There are much more reasonable priced hotels in the nearby town of Ellsworth.

The other thing this hotel does which we did not like is they CHARGE your credit card the FULL amount at time of booking, not at check in. Our room was almost $300 for one night. This is not a luxury hotel or a B&B or a vrbo so I can not see the need for them to charge your credit card the full amount at time of booking. I think they forgot they are a regular Hampton Inn hotel!

We have and do travel the country extensively for both work and vacation and this is the first time EVER a regular, national chain hotel has charged us for our stay months before our arrival.

The other thing I will note is that this is a seasonal hotel, only open May 1st through Oct 31st so when we were first planning our vacation earlier this year, outside that window - their online booking system showed the hotel completely sold out for every day of the year. We waited until their online system opened up before we could book a night for this season.

Other than being a nice hotel, the cost, the advance credit card payment, and the difficulties booking online - makes this hotel not worth the stay. Plus Bar Harbor's traffic was a hassle.

Thank You for choosing Hampton Bar Harbor for your recent stay and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. I do agree with you .. . all hotel rates on Mount Desert Island and in Bar Harbor are indeed much higher than you may think is typical or customary, especially when comparing to year round roadside properties.

Market demand is the reason there is only one hotel property open year round in Bar Harbor, and also why there has not been a flagged property built on Mount Desert Island in over 25 years, until Hampton Bar Harbor opened in 2015. High season is VERY short in Bar Harbor, and the business risk is high due to Mount Desert Island and Bar Harbor being a seasonal only, vacation destination market. There is no one driving by Mount Desert Island on the way to go somewhere else, and therefore guest rooms are usually booked in advance and held for a guest with a deposit required for the first night only. Of course, one may cancel a reservation anytime in accordance with the cancellation policy and receive 100% deposit returned.

Should you wish to return to Bar Harbor, I might suggest coming in the early Spring (April/May) when rates are more reasonable, or let us point you to Hampton Inn Ellsworth where rates are more attractive in season as well. If you don't mind driving to the Island (about 30 minutes), it is a very good option.

with Thanks!
Linda

We spent 2 nights here as a Lifetime Diamond member on points. The hotel is pretty expensive and a high category for the Hilton chain. The goal of our stay was to visit Acadia National Park and the location of the hotel made our visit very ideal.

We arrived early from Bangor - around 10 am and could not check in until 2 pm. That was a bit of a disappointment.

The hotel is fairly new and the rooms still look pretty new and clean. The rooms are pretty big and there was even a sofa bed in our room. We stayed in Room 331. As a Diamond member, we were disappointed we did not get an upgrade - not even to a better view. Our view was of the parking lot. Had they treated Diamond members better, our stay would have been Excellent.

Breakfast was complimentary and self service with waffles, sausage, eggs. It was ok, nothing special. WIFI was complimentary and no complains there.

If you are looking to visit Acadia National Park, this is the place to stay.

Thank You for choosing Hampton Bar Harbor on your recent visit to Maine and Acadia National Park, and for your loyalty to the Hilton Brand. We very much value our Hilton Honors guests and truthfully, we welcome 25 - 30% or more guests using points every single night. Hampton Bar Harbor is a seasonal (open only 6 months) destination vacation market, and as such a bit more expensive than other year round roadside properties. Many many Diamond and Gold member guests use points earned on business travel to reserve for vacation stays, both in standard view and in premium view guest rooms. While complimentary upgrades to Harbor View guest rooms are not available, every effort is made to accommodate our Diamond and Gold members to an upper floor with a view of Paradise Hill in Acadia National Park. The Cadillac Mountain view guests rooms are the only rooms at the hotel from which you will not see the parking lot; all others will have cars in view.

I do appreciate your feedback and glad to hear you enjoyed your stay. Please let us welcome you back another time.

with Thanks!
Linda
