Town Hill Bistro is not the type of place that blows you away with extremely innovative combinations of ingredients that you could never imagine. The menu is varied and has some creative uses of local ingredients (such as a rhubarb chutney/sauce with pork loin). However, the really special element of Town Hill Bistro is the quality of the ingredients and preparation when the plates are put in front of you. Presentation is very good, but the attention to detail with the ingredients is exceptional. Every dish we had was great- from the halibut which was the table favorite to the pork loin (2nd favorite) to the seared scallops. The salads were simple mixed green salads that had the flavors that can be achieved only with fresh cut greens. If our family had any complaints, it was that we wish the portion sizes were slightly larger; a long day of biking can lead to some serious appetites.
Town Hill is unpretentious in its preparation, ambience, and service. You feel as though you are eating at a close friend's house who just happens to be the chef at a five-star restaurant.
