The Robbins Motel offers a reasonably priced room ($58.00/double) in a pricey area in the Bar Harbor area. The Robbins is conveniently situated on Route 3, very close to the entrance to Acadia National Park and some four miles to Bar Harbor.

The Robbins is a throwback to what motels looked like in the 1950's. Basically, attached cabin-like rooms. That being said, our room was clean and appeared to be well-serviced. A couple of nice features included a separate air conditioner and heater in each room. We kept the window open because the weather was quite comfortable, but the down-side of that was lots of road noise coming from ME-3, from which our room was relatively close.

The queen-sized bed was okay, but nothing special. There was a desk-type area which was under what looked like an area for hanging clothes, but I've no idea how one could work at the desk when anything was hung in this area. The 19” color TV had basic cable with good reception. The same could not be said of my cell phone (T-Mobile) which had no service in this area. Our room had a digital alarm clock.

The bathroom was like the room in that it was crowded but serviceable. Guests interested in showering must negotiate a very large step to get in and out of the bathtub. The shower fixtures looked relatively new and the shower itself earned my 3-star (highest) rating for temperature, water pressure and drainage.

The hotel has a small pool (3-foot depth) behind the main office building which young children would probably enjoy. The Robbins provides free WiFi service which offered a good and fast connection in our room.

The motel is located very close to a great miniature golf course and a couple of restaurants; we ate breakfast at the Log Cabin restaurant down the road a few hundred feet as Robbins does not offer breakfast.

We booked rooms here because of the great reviews and price. We also couldn't find anything else on the internet with availability in this price range. Management was very kind and accommodating. We felt very safe. Lots of international travelers. And it's right next door to a very fun, pirate-themed mini golf course.
Nonetheless, our rooms were more like tiny trailer homes, and the mildew smell was overpowering. The road noise kept us up all night. There were plenty of vacancies on MDI over the holiday weekend (surprisingly!), so we found a cottage with a view and a quieter location for $70 instead.

Many mornings my husband and I stayed in our room . We sipped coffee& had a nice breakfast, while talking about our plans for the day. Yes you can sleep late if you want. They don't bother you if you want to stay in your room. no maid service after 11:30am. We didn't need it anyways most days!!! We stayed in room #5 and wow!!! lots of lights, closets and counter space. For the price you pay is so worth it and then some. I really can't complain, but the only problem is the parking spaces can be very tight getting in and out of your car,suv or truck. That's it!!! We stayed there from 6/28/09-&7/5/09 the weather had not been good for several weeks, so we plan on going again late August or next year.
thanks again Robbins motel for a nice place to stay from the Burtons

We chose this motel after surfing the Internet looking for inexpensive accommodations. If you don't require luxury and a small room is adequate for your needs, this motel is located within a short distance from Acadia National Park and downtown Bar Harbor. The management was honest in advertising and in person. What we didn't expect was service that was considerate, personal and more than we thought would be included. Call ahead. This place fills up quickly, even outside the summer season. Our recommendation, for these reasons, is without hesitation. We will definitely return !!!

Robbins motel is simple, but clean and adequate. For its price, you will get more than what you pay for. The place provides clean bed, good shower, TV, and free Wi Fi. It is only a few miles from the Acadia national park, a good place to rest after a long hiking day. However, this is not a place for people who expect luxury or comfort and high service.
