This is a wonderful Italian eatery located along the upper side of Main Street. I went there several times during the summer to eat and the food was really good. I had a pasta dish and the desert selection is really good and delicious. They are open throughout the winter, so I tend to go there a lot for drinks or coffee. The bartender very nice and makes great conversations to the fellow customers. They have a wonderful cocktail selection such as the "Maple Leaf" or "Mango, Mango". Some of the cocktails they're trying out for their summer selection.
Sometimes the bartender and cooks are nice enough to bring out free samples of food to the bar. This has happened twice in the last few weeks. The first sample was like a blue cheese fondu dish that came with some small bread rolls, tasted delicious and the second was a tiny onion dipped in a sweet and vinegar sauce.
The atmosphere is very nice and does look like an upscale restaurant, but the prices are reasonable. The sound of jazz and standards can be heard through the speakers. If you're quiet, you can sit back with a cocktail and listen to the musical stylings of Ella Fitzgerald or Bobby Darin. There are some nice black and white pictures of Italy hanging along the walls that are very breathtaking.
I recommend spending a cold evening here for a nice drink or just a cup of coffee. Living in Bar Harbor, I know how hard it is to find a restaurant opened during the winter and I'm very glad they are. I look forward to many more journeys I will take to "Guinness & Procelli's".
