“Good place, nothing special”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

Got a recommendation to go here from some folks while climbing Cadillac earlier in the day. My wife and kids said the chowder was outstanding. Our table had the fish & chips, haddock dinner and fish sandwich with chowder (plus two other kids' meals). Throw in a couple appetizers, lemonades and two beers, the bill came to just under $70. All meals were very good, what you'd expect for fish dishes in a seaside town. Pretty good value for high season in a nice (albeit touristy) town. Service was good. We were satisfied with the experience, but would probably try one of the other restaurants when we return to the area.

“Not the best seafood I've had!”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2013

We went here on the recommendation of our friends who have been coming here for years and said you had to try the clams. We both had the the fried clams and they were just okay. We were in New Brunswick, Canada (Bouctouche & Hopewell Rocks) just before this and the fried clams there were great and much better than here.

“Solid seafood”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 2, 2013

had deep fried clams, fries, chowder. Pretty decent. Chowder was very good. Had better clams and fries earlier in the week though, in Lubec (Maine), and Hopewell Rocks (New Brunswick).
Freinds highly recommended this place, but we weren't overly impressed. We didn't try any of the other bar-type places in Bar Harbor though, so maybe it's the best of the bunch?

“Very Good and Reasonable Drinks and Pub Food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 31, 2013

We went here twice, once mainly for drinks and the other time for food and drinks. During our visits we had the clam chowder, the fish and chips, and the seafood sampler. The clam chowder and the fish and chips were very good, but there were only four fish stick sized fish in the fish and chips, so we also ordered the seafood sampler appetizer. It doesn't list oysters in it, but I am sure there were, and they were the best small fried oysters that I have ever eaten. My husband and I agreed that we both had had too much fried food, but it was still quite good. Drinks and food were quite reasonable for the Bar Harbor area.

We stopped for dinner, had a lobster salad and haddock sandwich and a couple of craft beers. Great food and great atmosphere, enjoyed all of it.
