“Excellent Stay”
Reviewed September 29, 2013

The inn consists of several buildings. My wife and I stayed in one of the suites for three nights. It was a second floor which was not a problem for us getting the luggage up the stairs, but others may want to request a ground floor. The room was very nicely decorted and we found it spotless when we arrived. It had a sitting area with two comfortable chairs and a flat screen tv. Also one on the wall in front of the very comfortable king bed. The bathroom was tiled with a granit vanity. Good size batthrooom. Tthere was no brreakfast, continental or otherwise, but there was a coffee machine in the lobby which was available 24 hours a day. Also a microwave and coffee pot in the room. There was a nice secluded side yard with chairs for sitting out. Staff was very friendly. Ten minute walk to town for some very good resturants. Quiet and excellent value.

We stayed in two different rooms at Bar Harbor Manor, September 5-7. Very clean. All employees were accommodating and kind. They even returned a pair of sandals that I accidentally left behind. There are great breakfast places nearby you can discover. I would definitely stay there again. . . if only I could go back! Bar Harbor is unique and lovely.

Stayed here for 3 days. I had a 2 room suite. It was clean and the king bed was comfortable. The pull out sofa not so comfortable. Unit had microwave, refrigerator, and coffee pot with coffee. Towels were nice. It was about a 10 minute walk to harbor front which was fine when weather was nice. Not so fine the day it rained.

We enjoyed our stay. The hotel is very pretty and the new building (which we stayed in ) was very nice, the carpet still smells brand new! Rooms were very clean and spacious and we could not believe how quiet the rooms were for being right in town! On the down side, the coffee pots in the rooms are terrible (plastic) and we couldn't even make coffee in the morning. My husband had to go down to the front office to get coffee to bring that back to the room, unfortunately that was terrible too! We said something to the desk clerk as a suggestion and she looked at my husband like he had 3 heads. The maid service was ok, had to ask for soap and only left shampoo/conditioner once in the 5 days we were there, ran out of tissue and changed sheets only once. The biggest concern and insult was we had asked if we could check out a day earlier due to an emergency back home (death) and when my husband inquired we was told no we could not have a refund for the one day because there wasn't anyone to fill that room. Well, for the rest of our stay the no vacancy sign was up everyday. Very poor customer service and poor business practice. Needless to stay we will not be back to stay there.

BarHarborManor, General Manager at Bar Harbor Manor, responded to this review, September 15, 2013
The Bar Harbor Manor is pleased that these folks enjoyed their stay in our new Hotel. The rooms and the building are being well received by both new guests and our returning friends. We were sorry to hear they didn’t like the complimentary coffee. As a coffee drinker myself, and as most coffee drinkers would agree, coffee preference is very personal. Our property offers complimentary coffee in the guest parlor (medium and dark roast) and in the guest rooms (medium roast). Although we are always on the lookout for a better cup of coffee, the majority of our guests enjoy the quality and convenience of the free coffee service. In addition, there are several coffee houses within a short walk of our downtown location which feature specialty coffee.
With regard to the frequency of changing sheets, the Bar Harbor Manor follows the lodging industry standard of changing linens every two to three days. If a guest would like fresh linens every day the Bar Harbor Manor would be happy to accommodate their request, they just need to communicate their preference. Daily, millions of gallons of water are used to wash towels and linens that have been used just once. The Bar Harbor Manor, like the majority of our guests, is committed to conserving the earth’s vital resources. With respect to replacing room amenities we have met with the housekeeping department to ensure that rooms are properly restocked and we apologize for any inconvenience.
Regarding the issue of cancelling their last day, unfortunately these guests gave the property very short notice and certainly did not indicate that there was an emergency due to a death. The front desk clerk spoke with the manager and offered to waive the cancellation policy and give these guests a full refund should their room be re-rented. The guests declined and decided to stay. Perhaps better communication would have resulted in a more favorable outcome. In todays’ travel environment the Bar Harbor Manor always recommends that guests look into obtaining trip insurance. Trip insurance is an inexpensive way to cover costs associated with various emergencies that inevitably occur while people are on vacation.
It is our goal at the Bar Harbor Manor to provide excellent quality accommodations, a wonderful location and gracious hospitality. We invite future guests to Bar Harbor to visit with us. We are confident you will have an enjoyable stay

My husband and I stayed in the hotel part of Bar Harbor Manor this month and we definitely enjoyed our stay. The hotel itself is cute, our room on the third floor was spacious, and I enjoyed the terrace. When we checked in, the gentleman at the front desk was very helpful and spent a lot of time recommending places to go and restaurants to try, labeling everything on a handy map.

This may sound strange, but the one thing I didn't like about the hotel was that it seemed to be made entirely of plastic. The furniture seemed like it was laminate, the siding was vinyl and the terrace was mostly plastic, it was almost like a toy doll's house. That said, this was a minor thing and the hotel has a lovely appearance and is very clean.

The location was perfect for us as we wanted easy access to town and the buses to take us into Acadia. I didn't realize until a few days into our trip just how far a lot of the hotels are from town. If you're planning on using the buses to get around the island, or make trips into town for shopping or restaurants, staying closer to town is absolutely worth it as it will save you a lot of time and hassle.

All in all, I liked this hotel a lot, and I would likely recommend it to friends and stay there if I returned to Bar Harbor.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor of the hotel, which we liked a lot. Noise was never an issue (I've...

We had read most of the earlier reviews, so we were a bit nervous about our four day stay in early August. We found the Bar Harbor Manor to be exactly as we had expected. We spent the first two nights in the Inn and the second two nights in one of the townhouse suites. (We asked to move because my wife was ill and we wanted a little more space.) Both accommodations were very nice and the staff was very helpful in making the move. In both cases the rooms were clean and comfortable. There was no transmission of noises from other rooms or from the street. The Inn room was on the small size with minimal hanging space in a small wardrobe, but otherwise was quite delightful. We took advantage of our private deck to enjoy the cool nights and pleasant mornings. The suite room was quite large with lots of closet space.

I think some of the previous reviewers who were displeased were expecting a bed-and-breakfast experience. That clearly was not the Bar Harbor Manor. If you are looking for a small hotel experience with reasonable rates and an excellent location, you can't do better than the Bar Harbor Manor

We stayed there for 5 nights over the Labor Day holiday weekend and had a great time. Everything was nice and clean, the staff was friendly and helpful, and the location and price were great!! We loved being able to walk to everything in "downtown" Bar Harbor. I would definitely recommend this place and would be happy to visit again.
