“Wonderful B&B Experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 9, 2008

Had a 10-day vacation in Maine and the Coach Stop Inn was our favorite of five B&Bs. The bonus was that this was also the most reasonably-priced. We stayed in the Heritage room and loved it. Natalie, Jeff and Mary Claire could not have been more gracious hosts. We will return to Bar Harbor in the future and hope to be fortunate enough to again secure a room at the Coach Stop Inn.

My wife and I just spent the weekend at this great B&B. We arrived somewhat late in the day, and Jeff and Natalie had gone shopping. We were greeted by Mary Claire, who was fantastic. She told us all about the place, our room, offered us refreshments, showed us the maps, and got us a reservation for a lobster dinner at a great closeby restaurant. We stayed in the Abbe Suite, upstairs, which is exactly what you would expect from an 1804 Maine cape. It had a nice sitting room, great bedroom, period features, and was immaculate.
The breakfast was something to dream about. The blueberry fritters were to die for. The first morning we had eggs with fresh chives from their herb garden. The second morning we had their signature stuffed french toast, which was out of this world. Both mornings we were also served fruit smoothies which were not too sweet, allowing the flavor of the fruit to come out (not just sugar).
The afternoon/evening coffee and pastrie was a very nice touch. The soft music playing during breakfast was also very nice.
The inn was a great place for us to get away as a couple. It would have been a little nicer if we didn't have to get in the car to go everywhere, and the highway was a little noisy at times, but other than that it was great.
I would not worry about some of the other reviews. While we only saw Jeff once and Mary Claire did the bulk of the hosting, the experience did not suffer at all.

We stayed at the Coach Stop Inn in June for three nights. I cannot begin to describe how disappointed we were with the experience.

While the room was comfortable, the bathroom door opened right to the back of the sink. This was annoying at best when trying to brush your teeth or fix your hair.

The breakfasts were unimaginative and very heavy. Each day started out with blueberry fritters which were fried and greasy. By the last morning, I asked for them not to be brought. We were served stuffed french toast on two of the three days there. I believe that the menu should be coordinated as to not repeat meals for such a brief stay. It was clear to me and my husband that while Natalie could cook, she is not the regular chef at the inn...her husband is/was. We found out however that he is living and working in Massachusetts and is no longer involved in the day to day operation of the inn.

To add to our disappointment, Natalie shared that she and her husband are trying to sell the inn because it no longer suits the life they want to lead for their family, specifically their son Jack. While I like children, I felt that far too much attention was paid to Jack, his wearabouts and satisfaction during our visit. Had I known that the inn was up for sale and the inkeepers had such a young child, I would havre not booked this inn. The enitre length of our stay, I felt as though Natalie was "biding her time" until the inn was sold and she could move, not the attitude you would expect from an inn owner.

Beware of these things if you choose to book a stay at this inn. We will not return and most definitely not recommend this inn as a welcoming place to stay.

My Wife and I stayed at the Coach Stop Inn for a couple of nights as we explored the National Park. We stayed in the suite at the back of the house. It was great - Spacious, quiet and comfortable. As mentioned by nearly everyone else the breakfasts were fantastic and the hosts were more than happy to point you in the right direction of things to do in the area or the best places for dinner. At first I was a little worried about it being 5-10 minutes drive from Bar Harbor itself but in hindsight I'm glad we had a place to escape the hustle and bustle of the busy resort town!

Every posssilble amenity, all the kindest ,most thoughtful, gestures one could want are at The Coach Stop Inn.The food is outstanding ,not just the wonderful breakfast which was always a treat, but the dessert available every late afternoon, giving us something to look forward to at the end of the day.My husband and I stayed with Valerie,Jeff and their son Jack for six nights. They have a helper, Maryclaire, who is a charming ,delightful young lady .The location of the Inn is central and very free of the noise and bustle of Mt. Desert Island and Bar Harbor village. After one day, with their assistance, we found all of the places and things to do that one could want.An almost incredible value,The Coach Stop B&B was one of eight B&B's we stayed at on our coastal Maine trip and it was the best.We would reccommend this lovely place to anyone looking for the ideal B&B experience.

The Coach Stop Inn is the perfect bed and breakfast experience. The Inn is tastefully decorated and immaculate. Natalie is a warm and gracious hostess who made us feel quite at home. We stayed in the spacious Heratage Room. The mattress and bedding were very confortable and inviting. The "little things" that make a big difference in an overnight accomadation were done well---soft classical music playing as we entered room, plush towels and toiletries rolled into a pleasing basket display, mints on the pillows, plenty of lighting choices, wicker chairs on the room's personal porch, mini fridge, corkscrew, and wine glasses, etc. The breakfast was gourmet delicous and served in a bright and cheerful dining room.

A three course gourmet breakfast every morning, fresh baked pastries in the afternoon, and clean comfortable rooms and facilities made our stay at the Coach Stop Inn a most memorable experience. Jeff and Natalie Reynolds have shown that they really know how to pamper their guests and at very reasonable rates. Additionally, the location is very convenient to Bar Harbor and to the main entrance to Acadia National Park. We feel that our experience in Bar Harbor could not have been any better at other establishments.
