What can I say, we've stayed at the Hearthside at least 5 times (we've kind of lost count) and we are ready to go back again. Here’s why…
Great location – the Inn is on a quiet side street right in town. It’s easy walking to everywhere in town.
Great rooms – each room is unique and lovingly decorated. My husband and I have stayed in a few of the rooms, but now we have our favorite that we request each time.
Very clean – the Inn itself and all the rooms are always clean.
Great breakfast - nice home-cooked hearty breakfast to get you started for the day. I'm a vegetarian and Susan and Barry always take care to make a veggie version of whatever delicious dish they are serving.
Susan and Barry are great hosts. They've helped us plan day trips & hikes and given recommendations for restaurants. They really know the area, take advantage of their knowledge. They’ve never steered us wrong.
Nice friendly atmosphere.

A lovely, spotless B&B run by Susan and Barry two great hosts. Their knowledge of the area enabled us to make the best of one full day and we were well set up with one of Susan's lovely breakfasts. She never repeats a breakfast for any guest, however long their stay - a masterpiece of planning which many B&B hosts could not hope to fulfil! My husband worried about not having en suite facilities but we both loved our private bathroom across the landing it made the bedroom more special. If we get the chance to include Bar Harbor in another US trip we will most definitely stay at Hearthside.

Room Tip: Glass Menagerie has a lovely little balcony with chairs and table. Great for a hot night.

Location, location, location . . .
Breakfast, breakfast, breakfast . . .
Gracious and informative host/hostess . . .
An absolutely delightful place to stay in Bar Harbor; no need to look further.

Room Tip: Although we were in the Prince Albert, the detached bathroom was NO problem.

We stayed at the Hearthside Inn in early September to visit Arcadia National Park. We found it to be warm and welcoming, located on a residential street just a few short blocks from downtown, which we loved. We walked to dinner and shopping, and didn’t have to deal with trying to find parking, but left the hustle and bustle behind when we were done. All the recommendations we got from our wonderful hosts, Innkeepers, Susan and Barry, were right on, from paths to take in the park, to restaurants. They saw to it that we had maps, and even a CD that narrated a park tour. They went out of their way to get us a reservation at a restaurant that was very well liked and quite difficult to get into. The breakfasts were sublime, and the smell of homemade breads and granola added to the ambiance!!!

My husband and I stayed here for three nights this past July as part of a longer Maine/Maritimes road trip. It was definitely the most 'B&B-ish' place we stayed; teddy bears and doilies abound. Additionally, the breakfasts were very, very good.

The main thing I look for in lodging--particularly in a non-parking friendly town like Bar Harbor--is location. This place was DEFINITELY well-located. In fact, I don't see how one could ask for a better location. We walked everywhere in town--from the inn to the harbor, along the shore path, through the town green, and back...repeatedly.

In addition to the excellent location, the room was beautiful. We stayed in the Wuthering Heights room and I have to say that the photo online does not do this room justice. First, it was huge (particularly by B&B standards)--and had an ample seating area. Second, the bed was so very comfortable. I was not feeling well one day (after a rather unfortunate hiking experience) and having somewhere so cozy and comfortable to return to was truly a blessing. And--if this sort of thing is important to you (as it is to me) the wifi worked quite well.

We would definitely return to Hearthside--but I do have my concerns that we may not ever be able to. Why? Because this place seems to have so many repeat customers that I fear sometime soon I will be consistently booked all season long--with only people who have been there before! Hopefully we can be some of those people!

We stayed at this B&B on our tour of New England. All our other stops were hotels and as this was the only B&B we were very pleasantly surprised. We stayed in the Winston Churchhill room which was immaculate and very comfortable. We also had our own private porch. The breakfasts were wonderfull with homemade Granola, cererals, fruit, muffins etc. and also a different homemade hot dish served to you as soon as you were ready. Everyone sits together round one big table which was great to get to know each other. Our hosts were really friendly and we thorougly enjoyed their company. The B & B is very centrally located so we did not need our car when walking round Bar Harbour.

Very comfortable, classy and enjoyable B&B. The breakfasts were excellent. The hosts and the other guests made for interesting and informative conversations. The B&B is ideally located for access to Bar Harbor, while still providing the peace of a less traveled street. Acadia is a beautiful park to explore. We especially enjoyed the hike/climb up Precipice Trail. What a spectacular view!!
