Description: American fine dining with a Latin flair. Havana has an elegant modern atmosphere, an extensive wine list, knowledgeable staff and a sophisticated menu. Seafood, vegetarian and meat dishes are flavored with intelligence and respect and change weekly, sometimes daily. Havana is located in downtown Bar Harbor, just a short stroll up Main Street.

This was one of the best meals we've had in awhile. The wine list is superb; the scallops were as tender as any we've eaten, and the pork dish well spiced. Wonderful service; the manager and owner spent time speaking with us. An absolute must.

Coming from Florida, I was hesitant going to a cuban restaurant in Maine, however it was very very good. Could be that part of me was giddy just getting into town, but either way, this was delicous and our best meal in Maine (unless you are in Maine to only eat Lobster). My wife and I went here for our 5 year anniversary to get away of the heat of Florida, and this is exactly what the doctor ordered. We started out with the Spring Rolls, done with a spin, and the truffle aioli was excellent. Wife had pork, she never eats pork...and liked it a lot. I had the lamb...i always eat lamb...and it was about as good as any i've had anywhere. All in all a very good experience. Wish we had time to go back for another visit...but we did not. Definitely going back there next time we are in town.

The meal started with oysters (both raw and grilled) while sitting at the outdoors bar. We then moved in for a wonderful dinner. I enjoyed perfectly prepared scallops. The special that evening was swordfish and it was amazing. Owner Michael Boland stopped by the table and accepted our favorable comments. Waiter Sam was helpful and fun. Oh yes - if you like spice, start your meal with a scorned woman.

Very romantic restaurant and nice ambiance. The owner visits the tables to thank you for coming. I had the lobster dish which was amazing, it had 10 ounces of lobster in it and it was so good. The food has a bit of spice, so if you don't like really spicy food you should ask to have it toned down. The cuban martinis were also very tasty. I would go back - you need a reservation.

We were hoping for a fabulous lobster dinner but it was so chewy that we couldn't eat it. Turns out that they prepare their portions in advance - did not taste fresh. Soup (gespacho) was extremely salty & the risotto was mushy like oatmeal, bland and not hot. Sent it back & ended up leaving without eating when the manager gave us attitude. Never again, but the place across the street had great vibes & a fantastic lobster roll w/outdoor seating & wonderful desert and a great bar, too.

Dear Mr. G.
Your review is not accurate. You didn't "end up leaving" - we asked you to leave, and when you offered to pay us for the cocktails and one appetizer you had we rejected any payment whatsoever just as long as we could get you and your wife/partner out of the building.

You were very rude to your server, rude to me (I was the one "giving you the attitude" - I am the owner), and unbelievably rude to the guitarist playing the bar area both on your way in and on your way out. In years of performing for us and many others, Mr. Morse, the classical Spanish guitarist playing that evening stated he had never met someone so ungrateful and miserable in his life. Congratulations for setting a record.
SPECIFICALLY -
* We don't have risotto - it was the Lobster Moqueca that you ordered.
* You neglect to state that you requested we put double the amount of lobster in your dish and were willing to pay for that, and then sent it back and wanted to order something else (acceptable in almost every instance excepting for your rudeness and other "send backs")
* You also neglect to let the readers know that the Lobster Moqueca was the THIRD item that you or your dining partner sent back to the kitchen.
* and of course we prepare our portions in advance (you do have that right). But you seem to think a restaurant serving lobster meat in a paella or stew dish would cook each lobster at the time of it being ordered, pick it and then add it to the saute pan. This is of course totally impractical and would result in your entrees coming to the table significantly after you ordered them; so every morning we cook off live lobsters, pick all of the meat from them, and then use the meat that evening.
If you had been even remotely polite about your negative dining experience I would of course apologize to you.
