On a suggestion from a friend we decided to check this out while on our trip to Maine. It was, jaw dropping, awesome. Could not believe how cool of a phenomenon this was. If you find yourself in Bar Harbor, ME make sure to par-take of this "attraction".

The land bridge is wonderful: we spent an hour just looking for crabs and sorting through shells. Be sure to wear shoes that can get wet (crocs, flip flops) and check the tide tables about a day before you want to go, so that you don't miss it. I suggest parking in town and walking down to the access point (go past the really fancy hotel on the water and you'll find a little alley that leads right down to the land bridge ... or ocean, at high tide :)).

Watch while you go, lots of pleasant surprises at your feet, such as jellyfish, barnacles, common periwinkles

This is something you don't have the chance to do very often, just every low tide in Bar Harbor. Take a nice walk over to Bar Island after checking the low tide schedule.
