We stayed 4 nights at the hotel, and we loved the location and view of the bay. The walls were a little thin, and the decor was unforgettable, but we liked having a kitchenette. The view from the balcony was great. We would definately stay here again, since it seemed reasonably priced. And, the kids loved both the pools.

We booked a room at the Atlantic Oakes Resort for Labor Day Weekend. The prices were reasonable for the area (about $150/night with AAA discount) and it was about one mile from town and Acadia National Park. The website makes the property seem better than it actually is, but otherwise it was a nice place to stay.

We selected a room with a partial ocean view, which is the least expensive option. It was a nice, first floor unit with two double beds, an extra sink and a refrigerator. It was clean, easy to access from the parking spots and had a nice view of the pool with the ocean about 150 feet in the background.

The staff is very friendly. The hotel offered a free breakfast special during this time and it was very good, with lots of hot, fresh foods to choose from. There is a shuttle that takes people into town, though we chose to drive. Overall, I would recommend this property for your stay.

My wife and I stayed there every summer from 1999-2004.
It was great the first few years. Clean, with a helpful and
friendly staff and a good breakfast. We noticed a slight decline in
2003 , but in 2004 this place had suddenly transformed into a
overpriced dump with a smelly room ,dirty sheets, a clogged toilet, and a ridiculous breakfast that made Denny's seem
gourmet. They built a small gym area instead of putting
money into the rooms and basic housekeeping .The staff
was unhelpful. Surly 20-somethings had replaced mature , responsive adults. The maid service that was once immaculate became poor and sloppy .Maybe it's improved since we were there last but we will never return .Be very careful and be forewarned...

I've been to Bar Harbor several times. And this is one of two hotels I most like (short of breaking the bank on a couple of the older resorts closer to town). We lucked out and got a room with a fabulous view and relative privacy. (They don't all appear to be as good.) For our four nights, though, it was a real treat.

A couple of very small complaints, though: a) the fitness room was not properly air conditioned. And it was too small. b) there are not enough public computers for people to check their email or the weather.

The room was spacious and comfortable. But the bathrooms could have been a bit cleaner. And the screen in the bathroom fell down. Small things. For the value of the room rate and the location and grounds.

There is no restaurant on the property, but they do a passable buffet breakfast. Two doors down on Eden Street the Holiday Inn has two restaurants and a tiki bar. Eat there if you want a restaurant meal.

The staff here were very nice but that is where my joy ends. After reading the reviews we thought that this property was going to be the highlight of our trip. We drove thirty minutes out of the way because the online reviews were so promising. However, once we arrived we found facilities closer to a church camp than a hotel or resort. I immediately went into the office and cancelled the future nights we had planned and the staff were very willing to help. I also asked if any of the rooms were better but they said they are all about the same. The floors are wooden and the walls are thin and the buildings are very outdated. I will attempt to add pictures so that you may judge for yourself. I hope this will give you a true preview if you are planning on staying here.
