We happened to be on the last puffin cruise of the season. Saw one puffin. However, the boat is small enough to see from all sides. Other sea birds observed: bald eagles, Northern gannets, common eiders, double breasted cormorants, common terns, laughing and grey gulls. Saw seals on the way back. Trip to island lighthouse was about one hour. Ample free parking. Take a wind breaker and binoculars. You can be surprised by the wind-chill difference from land.

Pros: You get a different perspective of the area . The crew was friendly. You get to see some wildlife in there natural environment. Beautiful lighthouses.
Cons: A bit cold and hard to hear the guide over the engines of the boat.
Overall worth the price and the time

Let me start off by saying that the narrator was very personable and knowledgeable. The Puffins, Lighthouses and Seal viewing was great but that only accounted for approximately 45 minutes of the tour. The rest of the time, terrible. It was a windy day and they should warn everyone of the roughness of the ride in any kind of inclement weather. Seating was very limited especially when the water is washing up on one side of the boat. It was extremely rough and you had to hold on the rail so as not to fall. Two people got sick, one over the side the other person was in the only bathroom for the last two hours of the tour. The 3 1/2 tour took 4 hours. If you like a rough boat ride, little seating and the possibility of loosing your lunch then take this tour. Maybe on a calm day it might have been good, but on a day when the weather is anything but perfect - I strongly advise you not to.

My husband and I went on this Puffin/ Lighthouse cruise on June 20th and had an amazing time. I enjoyed being out on the boat and learning the history of the area. The ladies, LuLu and the other very knowledgable lady(sorry I don't remember your name), were great. One of the reasons we chose this tour was because it was pet friendly. We brought our little Chihuahua everywhere with us on this vacation and they welcomed him aboard without issue. As a matter of fact this would be an excellent place to vacation for anyone because the whole town was extremely pet friendly. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking for a history & nature lesson in a relaxing atmosphere. Keek up the good work. The weather was excellent the entire time we were in Bar Harbor. Strongly advise a windbreaker or hoodie because the wind picks up and gets chilly when you enter the open waters. We saw seals, Puffins, Bald eagles and many other birds. One thing I was happy to learn was the other area of Acadia National Park that is seldom visited. I would not have known about this part of the park until the narrator told us about it. I had to venture over there when we exited the boat. Well worth the trip and it definetly took a minute to get there. It was a different look at Frenchman's Bay. Thank you for making our trip memorable.

There weren't enough tickets sold for our trip, so our options were to either get a full refund or come on another day. I chose option C - to pay for the extra tickets required to meet their minimum quota. They were agreeable - and it was money well spent, as with only 4 of us on board, we were able to get a personalized experience like no other. The captain and tour guide were both very knowledgeable and attended to all of our needs! We saw puffins, harbor seals, a few porpoises and even a couple of bald eagles.

We learned lots about the marine life - and even a bit about life in the town! I thoroughly enjoyed everything about the tour and can't recommend these folks enough!

You are out in the water for this one and the boat trip lasts a little over 3 hours. Dress warmly and be prepared for the Maine weather to change quickly - because it will! The boat comes equipped with a restroom and they do serve small snacks, soda and coffee.

Due to restrictions, the boat can only go so close to the island, so bring a good zoom lense if you're looking for close up shots of the puffin nests. The little creatures will sometimes swim by the boat, however, and you do stop long enough for a good look! Remember also, it's the real world out there, so spotting your favorite animal is not guarenteed!
