We could not have picked a more beautiful day nor a more friendly and accomodating crew. From start to finish we had such a good time fishing AND sightseeing. We had an added bonus of being able to observe a couple of bald eagles. There were children and adults on the trip and everyone caught fish. I would recommend this crew to ANYONE.

As we stepped onto the Islander, we were greeted with smiles and friendly words. There was ample fishing equipment for each person. Captain Matt and Chuck were very helpful. They showed us how to properly place our fishing poles and how to safely remove our catch. Each of us caught about 15 or more mackerels and pollocks. I was even lucky enough to catch a starfish. Besides catching fish, we watched a bald eagle descended from a cliff and swooped up a fish that was thrown into the water by Chuck. Moreover, we saw seals sunbathing on rocks and had great conversation with Chuck and the guests on the Islander. This was an experience of a lifetime. It was easy to get on and off the boat and a great experience for children. We hope to return next summer.

I have never been fishing in my life, and decided to give it a try on the Islander. We got to our first spot, dropped the line in, and within 1 minute, had 2 fish tugging. As a first timer, I was a bit squimish & didn't want to touch the fish. Captain Matt & Deckhand Dennis came to the rescue, taking the fish off the hooks and setting them free. People were catching fish left & right. Mostly Mackeral & Pollack, a few people even caught cod. I lost count around 35, but I'd say I caught almost 50 or so. On the trip home, they will cut & bag your fish for you to take home. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone, at any level of fishing knowledge. As a first timer, I absolutely loved it. I can't wait to go back again, might even touch a fish! Thank you Captain Matt & Dennis for a wonderful experience. As an added bonus, they offer free on-site parking, which is unheard of in Bar Harbor! :) (The girls in the ticket office were wonderful as well, very friendly)

Our day started off great... no struggling to find a parking spot downtown. The islander docks just up the road at the Atlantic Oceanside Hotel. Captain Matt and his crew hand, Chuck, were very pleasant and seemed to be enjoying their jobs. The boat was plenty big enough for everyone on board to spread out and fish. The Islander has a sheltered area with tables and chairs, but we did not use it as we were having too much fun fishing. At one stop we were literally pulling up fish after fish. Matt and Chuck were super about helping people release fish and fix snags. While traveling to new spots Chuck did a great job spotting and describing the seals and eagles nearby. Our 10 year old loved it and we would highly recommend this trip to anyone, especially to families.

This exceeded our expectations! We wanted to give our kids the experience of catching fish, but had no idea our first stop would result in over 20 fish per child!? It was as simple as lowering the line with three hooks, waiting 30 seconds, and seeing if they reeled in one, two, or three fish on the line! GREAT first experience, perhaps a bit spoiling for them for the long term (no kids, fishing is not always that easy). The crew was hands on and helped the kids out a lot. The 3.5 hours flew by -- the kids wanted more when we had to stop.
