My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at Eden Village. The fishing in the pond was entertaining but laying under the star light sky watching the shooting starts was the best. The cottage was cozy and had everything we needed. The only thing I wasn't crazy for was the mini grill. We would like to have had a full size grill that you don't have to sit on the ground to get at. I put a picture of that on here.
We hope to stay again this coming year.

anyone looking for a place to stay on mt. desert island (bar harbor) should definetly check this place out. you cant beat the price of a cottage for a week anywhere. the cleanliness and hospitality provided by the owners, bob and gail, was tremendous, they are very easy to get a hold of before and during the trip and they help you out if there are problems with getting to their cottages. the cottages seem small but are very nice and have the amenities needed for everyday living including a small kitchenette. only 5 minutes to downtown bar harbor and easy access to any place else on the island. we had a great time and would definetly liked to spend more time there!!!

My family and I planned our annual trip to Maine to see the fall colors. We wanted to try something different this year, so we dediced to stay at Eden Village in Bar Harbor. Normally, we stay in one of the larger hotels near town, and this year decided to stay together in a cottage. What a treat! Eden Village was the perfect spot for our fall vacation.

Our cottage faced the pond and had a wonderful view of the grounds and surrounding woods. The fall colors were just beginning, so it was just beautiful. The property is well maintained. There are hostas planted around each cottage, and there are window boxes everywhere you look. The owners live on the premises and it is obvious that they take great pride in their home and business.

Our cottage was very well maintained. It was very clean - much cleaner that other cottages I have been in. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had everything we needed. Our cottage also had a fireplace which was just perfect for a fall vacation.

I will definitely plan my next vist to Bar Harbor at Eden Village. Not only was the cottage pleasant, but it was nice that the property wasn't downtown. We have stayed downtown in the past and it was nice to be away from all the crowds. There were many cruise ships that came to Bar Harbor during our stay, and it was good to be able to get away when we wanted to. Eden Village is only a few miles away, so it was in a good location.

I would definitely stay at Eden Village again.

We had a great stay at Eden Village; the cottage looked like it had fallen out of the pages of a storybook, and we had a perfect family vacation. Eden Village was a wonderful home base to come back to, and not too far from anything (a few years ago we made the mistake of staying on the 'quiet side' of the island, and it was a 30+ minute drive to get anywhere). There is a wonderful little track out behind the motel where you can pick blueberries, a great playground for the kids, and a lovely, serene little pond.

The only downside in this Eden was the owner. We had a problem with one of the appliances, and when we brought it to her attention, the immediate response was that it must be something we had done wrong. (Never mind the fact that the equipment is a little outdated.) I was willing to overlook this, figuring maybe she was having a bad day, but later on, I happened to be around while she was 'supervising' her very nice -- and based on the condition of our cottage every afternoon, very competent -- housekeeping helper. She was so rude and demeaning that it was uncomfortable and embarrassing for me to even be around, and I had the urge to check out and take my money elsewhere.

Overall, we enjoyed our stay and will return... even if we did get the feeling that we as guests were an unfortunate but necessary blot on the owner's little Eden.

Management response:Responded December 4, 2005

I do not remember this person's problem when staying with us last summer. I am sorry that she got the impression she was responsible for the damage to the appliance. We pride ourselves on having all equipment in good working order at all times. In regards to how the housekeeper was being instructed to do his duties there are a couple of factors that should be explained. First the housekeeper being instructed in his duties was a college student from Bulgaria. He has worked with us for the past 2 summers. He is an excellent worker. He does however have a hearing disability and a limited understanding of English. Therefore, sometimes we have to not only speak louder than normal but also physically demonstrate the proper procedures he must follow. I believe the quest that witnessed this instruction procedure and thought it was rude and demeaning to the housekeeper didn't realize his disability. This housekeeper is a good worker and had requested we instruct him in this manner because he wanted to be sure he was performing his work correctly.

We stayed at Eden Village for 5 days, in the motel with a kitchenette. It was very clean, and the beds very comfortable! Our room was very spacious. It had all the equipment you could ask for in the kitchenette, if you wanted to cook. I didn't cook, since we were on vacation. We only used the kitchenette for the coffee pot in the mornings before we would head out for the day sightseeing. Bob & Gail were very friendly and helpful when we had questions about the area. We enjoyed visiting with them! This is a great place to stay when visiting the Bar Harbor area. It is quiet and very peaceful! We definately will go back on our next trip to the area. We loved it there!!
