Eden Village is at the mainland end of Mt Desert Island, relatively quiet, away from “Motel Row,” a seven-minute drive from the Hull Visitor Center. Attracted by the fireplace, I reserved four nights in Cottage 2. Maid service was limited to removing trash every day and exchanging towels if I had requested a replacement. There was no room for a bed-side table or a table for work or eating: you are expected to eat off a 15-inch cantilevered counter in the kitchenette. The management has provided a few frills such as a coffee maker, TV, and hair drier. The ceiling fan looked new. The interior construction and maintenance, however, looked amateurish. I could have done a better job on a sink installation for example. Everything feels as though they are trying to get by with as little as necessary; why don’t they provide paper towels in the kitchenette? As I read other TripAdvisor reviews, I tried to imagine why anyone would give my cottage five stars. Perhaps the reviewers use a different scale for cabins than hotels. On the basis of “value,” I could give three and a half stars It is not that anything was particularly wrong; you just have to have minimal expectations.

We are sorry you found our facility disappointing. We work very hard at what we do and feel as though for the value, customers get a pretty good product. We have invested much of our time and efforts to update our cottages and do realize that not all aspects can be taken care of at once. We do not provide paper towels in the kitchenettes and as far as maid service goes in the cottages, we take the trash daily, replenish coffee and replace towels if placed on the floor, as we have many folks who re-use their towels - customers are told when they check-in and there is a sign in the bathroom to help us conserve water by re-using towels; if placed on the floor they will be exchanged, if hanging up we will assume you want to re-use. We do appreciate and take into consideration all reviews and feedback we get.

My husband and I just returned from our first trip to Maine and we stayed at Eden Village. If you are looking for a reasonably priced motel, a little off the beaten path (and not in town) this IS the place for you. The owners were very helpful (thanks for the tip about parking in the bank parking lot on 4th of July since the bank is closed) and gave us lots of good tips about restaurants THEY liked and day trips to consider. We stayed in one of the cottages and it was just perfect for our 30th Anniversary trip. We enjoyed the quiet, and the fact that we weren't listening to our neighbors through motel walls. Having our own screened-in porch was nice - a great place to sip a glass of wine at the end of the day. If we ever travel to Maine again (we just might) we will definitely stay here again!

Room Tip: I'm sure the cottages are quieter than the motel rooms - they are spaced further apart (unlike s...

We stayed at Eden Village for one night in June of 2013. We had our dog with us and stayed in cabin #4. First, this is a great place for dogs - lots of room to run including a huge field for off leash play. Our cabin and its furnishings were rustic but clean. These are NOT luxury cottages, but they are comfortable. Cabin #4 was in the back, away from the road - very good. The kitchenette was tiny and had a cobbled together feeling, but we made an enjoyable supper nonetheless. There were adequate kitchen utensils and dishes, but no paper towels. Small, one cup coffee maker. The beds were a bit soft but offered a decent nights rest. The bathroom was clean, the towels were fine. The two TVs - one in each bedroom - worked well with basic cable service. The wifi worked well also. The windows were new and all opened wide. It was VERY quiet at night. Our only REAL complaint was that our cabin had a disinfectant smell - probably room freshener - that was persistent enough to linger throughout the night even with the windows open. It's not uncommon to experience this phenomenon when traveling, but I think I'd rather smell whatever it is they're trying to cover up. The odor bothered me throughout our stay. Still and all, Eden Village is a good place to stay and I have no trouble recommending it.

Room Tip: Motel rooms are farthest from the road. Floor plans of cottages are all different.

Thank you for your review! More and more folks are traveling with dogs these days and we try to be accommodating to them, so glad you found us. We are working on updating the kitchenettes, we try and do one or two a year. Any feedback on how to make them better is truly appreciated! I'm sorry the cottage had a persistent disinfectant smell to it, that isn't typical! Hope you'll be back again soon! Thank you!

We really enjoyed our stay here. We had an end room in the motel portion of the place. The cottage looked cute too. Our room had a big deck on the back with views of the property and a little pong out back. The room was HUGE and comfortable. Everything we needed. The location is great - mid way between downtown Bar Harbor and Ellsworth - so well away from the craziness and traffic. Very quiet and nice.

Room Tip: Can't miss here - all of the rooms are situated on this huge property and offer quiet and privac...

We stayed in the motel for 4 nights. Really didn't know what to expect as it was about half the price of all the other places I looked at. If you are looking for luxury this is not it. However, if you are looking for clean, comfortable, nice setting and a good price - this fits the bill. It is about 15 minutes out of the park and Bar Harbor. Had a microwave, refrigerator, sink and two burner stove. Quiet, had a table outback where you could eat and just relax (we were too busy sightseeing). The manager was very helpful and accommodating. Would certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: Only one floor of motels and they all seemed about the same. I don't know what the cottages wer...

We stayed 6 nights in a small cottage, which was clean and roomy enough. The location is not far from Acadia or Bar Harbor (less than 10 minutes). Dogs are allowed in some of the cottages. We took two of ours. The staff was very friendly. The 20ish acres that the property sits on is attractive and relaxing. Would definitely stay here again.

Our cottage (#8) was close to the duck pond, so we got to watch ducks and the resident muskrat. The kitchen is miniscule, but adequate. The bathroom is bigger than I anticipated, and light. The cottage is clean, has heat and air conditioning, and the electrical system is more than sufficient for all the appliances, which include a Keurig coffee maker, a flat-screen TV, Microwave, and refrigerator. The queen bed was a little bit too soft, and we wished there had been an easy chair instead of a love seat. The office staff and owners are friendly and helpful. We liked the location, because it is away from the road and way away from the commercial buzz of Bar Harbor, but it only takes ten minutes to get to Bar Harbor or Acadia NP.

Room Tip: Cottages have more charm than motel rooms, but a little less room. If you want two beds, choose a m...
