Holbrook House was amazing in every way imaginable. We stayed in the newly remodeled Seafarer room, which we highly recommend. The shower is luxurious to say the least. The owners are so friendly and the breakfast? Oh my, let's just say we set many alarms to make sure we didn't miss it! It's just a few block from all the downtown shops and food and they serve homemade treats every afternoon. If you think a B&B isn't your style because you like to keep to yourself, this one has 13 rooms and breakfast is served in the sun room at individual tables so you don't have to sit or talk with strangers if you prefer to be anti-social like us. :) If you stay at Holbrook House you will not be disappointed. We hope to return to beautiful Maine very soon and when we do, we will not stay anywhere but here!

Room Tip: The Seafarer room was clean, comfortable and luxurious!

A Maine dream come true. Everything spotless, tasteful, delicious. My room, the Seafarer, was airy and comfy, deeply relaxing: high-end sheets and pillows; lovingly chosen period details, an immaculate refuge, like the rest of the house. Long, beautiful porch with white wicker chairs; big yard, plenty of parking. Varied breakfasts right out of the magazines. Most of all, the owners visibly care about helping you enjoy your stay. A real find.

We recently stayed at Holbrook House in the Seafarer room for 5 nights. To start, it was hands down the nicest and cleanest bathroom of anywhere I've ever stayed compared to other renovated hotels in the same price class. The owners were very accommodating, digging up extra hangers for us (we were on an extended trip to see family and friends and had a lot of stuff with us) and making good recommendations for spots in town. The location was ideal, very close to Acadia's Cadillac Mountain entrance, which allowed us to get a jump on traffic in the park and get parking near any trailhead we were accessing. It was also a 10-20 minute walk anywhere in Bar Harbor with easy parking, which was great considering how clogged up some of the streets appeared to get. The best part was the breakfast though, which was delicious and varied. My partner and I really appreciated having fresh fruit every morning. This was our first real b-and-b stay and we weren't sure how it would go, but it was really lovely to walk downstairs and know a hearty breakfast was on the way. It was also nice to be able to take some coffee to-go, without having to stop in town for a second cup after breakfast. We didn't really avail ourselves of the sitting areas (we were there to hike Acadia mostly) but they seemed cozy and had we really gotten the brunt of the hurricane all the way up in Maine, it would have been nice to curl up with a book there. Room had good climate control for a historic property, new ceiling fan and window AC and thermostat, which came in handy as the weather changed a great deal while we were staying there.

I found the Holbrook House a great place to stay for a 4 day explore of Bar Harbor. Great location, clean, quiet, superb bedding, wonderful and varied breakfast. Easy walk everywhere. I loved the 24hr Keurig. Friendly and helpful innkeeper Eric.

A great place to stay for our Bar Harbor/Acadia vacation. The location was great--within walking distance to downtown and the harbor, but off of Main Street so a bit quieter. Compass Rose room was beautiful, with a comfortable bed, large bathroom (nice for an extended stay) and its own little balcony. It was on the back of the house, away from the street, so it was very quiet. Delicious breakfast each day, plus tea and sweets in the afternoon. Michelle is a great baker and chef, and Eric was a helpful and friendly host. Having coffee and tea available 24/7 was a nice benefit too. We will definitely stay again on any future trip to the area.
