We stayed for one night in early October. I would fully agree with all the other positive comments, adding that Steve fixed both my wife's eyeglasses (a loose screw) and configured my laptop so that I could connect to his WiFi.

That said, guests should be aware of that B&Bs located in old houses may be a bit cramped when compared to modern establishments designed from the outset as hotels/motels/inns. That is probably a small price to pay for the advantages!

We had a lobster dinner at Poor Boy's - excellent!

We had a wonderful experience at this B&B. The hosts (and their cats!) were very friendly. We were greeted and treated very warmly, from check-in through breakfast to check-out. The room we had -- Tan Hill -- was quite nice, and we appreciated the hosts' generosity with
reading materials, tour information, local guides, and complimentary snacks in the room and in the dining room. In addition, Jane has plenty of stories and tourist advice to accompany the tasty and hearty breakfasts. No question in our minds that we would definitely stay there again.

This is a warning to anyone who is contemplating staying at Aysgarth Station Bed & Breakfast in Bar Harbour Maine.

When checking in, the owner Jane was not very friendly and rushed us through the check-in procedure. We were given the option of parking our car in their private driveway or on the street. We chose to park it in their private driveway, for added security. Jane mentioned that if we chose to park in the driveway, we'd have to leave a set of keys to the car with her, as the car may have to be moved to let other guests out (as the driveway is not very wide).

We felt a bit strange about leaving our keys with her, but we felt reassured by her that it's better to park in the driveway than the street, for security. So, we parked in the driveway and left our keys with her and then headed out to see the town and have dinner.

When we returned several hours later, we noticed the car had been moved to allow another guest to leave. However, we were shocked to discover that the car was left UNLOCKED. We were on honeymoon so our car was full of gifts and other important belongings, like passports. Thankfully, nothing was stolen or damaged. However, we were extremely upset that our car would be moved and left UNLOCKED for hours on end.

When we spoke to Jane in the morning and confirmed that she moved the car and didn't re-lock it, she was not apologetic AT ALL. It's as if she didn't care, and brushed us off. It wasn't a big deal to her that she put all of our belongings at risk of being stolen, not to mention the car itself!! Sad to stay, this situation ruined our entire stay at Aysgarth Station and we will never stay there again.

We will make sure we tell everyone about our experience so that they can be well aware of this situation that happened to us. DO NOT allow Jane to move your car within the driveway - she will leave it unlocked!

What a lovely B&B Aysgarth Station is, my wife and I both loved it.

It is well located, in a quiet street only 5 minutes walk from the harbour, shops and restaurants and a short drive to the Acadia national Park entrance and visitor centre. Jane and Steve are the perfect hosts they both go out of their way to be friendly and helpful (But that is only to be expected as Jane is a Yorkshire lass)

One example was, at breakfast I mentioned that I had been told the wild Maine Blueberries were very good. Next morning as the starter for breakfast Jane put out Wild Maine Blueberries. The main breakfast meal was prepared fresh each morning and was always different and very good.

There is plenty of information about the surrounding area and a CD you can use if you want to drive the loop road around Acadia.

Our room, Tan Hill, was very clean and the bed extremely comfortable. We would certainly not hesitate in staying here again if we ever visit Bar Harbour in the future.

Excellent location - walking distance of downtown shops, short drive to entrance of Acadia National Park.
Accommodation - upscale, comfortable, extra amenities provided
Breakfast - very tasty and well prepared.
Hosts - charming
Extra special - a driving DVD of Acadia National Park was available for guests of the B&B. It was superb.
