“Grossly overpriced, Pictures of rooms are misrepresented on internet”

Our check in was rushed. We weren't given directions to our room. There was a bellman to help with our luggage. Then we got to our rooms. One was nice and the other was nothing like the pictures. It had this beat up grandma looking furniture. I went to talk to the front desk staff about the second room not being to the standards on the internet or of the other room we had also booked. I was quickly brushed off. The hotel is old and parts are nice, like the pool areas and landscaping but the rooms are hit and miss, and if you don't like your room tough, you are stuck with it.

When we checked in we were given a room off the pool that was very dated. We stayed one night in that room, but we were kept up all night by the screaming baby next door. We told the front desk and they showed us several rooms we could switch to. They were all dated. The furniture looked like it was from a garage sale and all the rooms had a musty smell. Even the common areas had old furniture with holes in it. We paid $330 per night. This was too expensive for the hotel. We definitely felt like we didn't get our money's worth. On the plus side, the pool and pool area were nice. The location was great. You are right downtown bar harbor and it is right on the ocean. The other plus was the concierge was very helpful. If you eat breakfast at the hotel expect to wait a long time. The food was good, but kitchen is very slow!

We've stayed in many different hotels over the past few years and this is by far the best. The location is outstanding with views from every angle. Our room had a balcony overlooking the pool with two chairs and a little table. It was small but nice to sit out there and relax. The room was a decent size and bed comfortable. It's nice to be so close to the downtown but not right in the center so it is perhaps a little quieter. The decor at this hotel is a little bit older but who goes to bar harbor to spend most of the time inside? Staff was very friendly. Did not eat at the hotel at all but the restaurant looked nice. It rained almost the whole time we were there and every day there were postings at the front about rainy day activities for kids and adults going on. I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to go back.

Room Tip: Definitely go for a room with the harbor or ocean view. It has to be one of the best hotel views in...

We stayed here for a couple of nights and enjoyed every minute. Our room was very spacious and roomy, with 2 balconies. The view is great from the room and the sand bar is a stone's throw away. The pool was nice, relaxing, and the perfect temp. The first day we had pizza by the pool and my husband and I enjoyed an adult beverage the second day. Servers were friendly. I'm not sure why we were charged a resort fee of $25 per night. This is pretty rare and we didn't get any use from it. We didn't use the valet parking or the BH club. Other than that, the overall stay was excellent!

There is little doubt that this is the largest resort type hotel in the Bar Harbor area. Between the main hotel, the spa/club next door and their build out of the west street hotel- the Harborside owns the downtown marina area. We stayed 4 nights over the July 4 holiday weekend. Since it was our anniversary I originally asked for a quieter room when we made the reservations earlier in the spring. Due to the size and location of the hotel this is a very family and group oriented (ie,. bike tours stay here) place so I guess quiet is tough to find. The first room we were put in was around the corner from the lobby, on the first floor directly facing out to the pool- probably great for families but not what we were looking for. After a few minutes with the front desk and deciding to upgrade our room class, we were shown a room on the 2nd floor which was much more to our liking. Comfortable bed and enough area to spread out, but furnishings were similar to a marriot courtyard at a much higher price- clean and functional. We really enjoyed the club/spa next door and it was a great way to escape the noise level of the main pool with a nice pool side staff for drinks etc. I tried using the concierge twice for meal recommendations, but both times they led with the hotel dining options which I don't think is helpful. Since the hotel is so large, maid service was usually not completed until after 2:30pm, not a problem since we were off most of the day biking and hiking in Acadia. Overall nothing was wrong with the hotel, but no extras that made me say this was a place you had to stay. Certainly a good option if you have a large group, but maybe the wrong option if you are looking for the further charm of surrounding Acadia.

Room Tip: ask for a second room floor- 1br suites are good options for families since they have a kitchenette

Our first time in bar harbour with our family. Great location- we chose harborside based on tripadvisor ratings/reviews. They charge $25 resort fee per day-- well worth it if you have children! They have kids club for 3 hours per day- gave my husband and me some free time to ourselves and our kids (ages 6 and 9) LOVED it!

BEST of all, somehow the harborside staff learned my little guy had a birthday on July 3rd (probably my son mentioning it at the kids club) and they sent a birthday message and special dessert via room service!! So thoughtful and I will not forget it!!! The look on Henry's face when room service rang was priceless! Thank you!!!

This property and it's employees are top notch. The place is located just adjacent to the water attractions (whale watch, lobster boats, lighthouse tour, etc) and the downtown area is a two minute walk. Comfortable, clean rooms with some unexpected benefits. A K-cup coffeemaker in each room with K-cups supplied. Good internet connection, each room has an outside balcony. I only had breakfast at the restaurant, but it was very good. And don't miss ordering a drink (or two) from David G. He is not only a first-class bartender, but a genuine treat. Go get a drink from David just to meet him, it's worth it.

Room Tip: Most of their rooms have at least some water view. Maybe the rooms on the lower level might not hav...
