My husband and I booked our “ long weekend” just a few days prior, and felt lucky to have found a room at the Castlemaine! A old, charming B and B within walikng distance to downtown Bar Harbor, it offered us a clean and cozy room as a base for our adventures! From Bobbie, the delightfully chatty front desk person who gave us lots of tips about where to eat (and even called in a reservation for us) to the innkeeper himself, who drew us maps about where to go in Arcadis National Park, their hospitality and friendliness went a long way in making us feel welcome- for after all, isn’t that what innkeeping is all about?
The room was a bit old- fashioned and flowery but clean, the bathroom large, there was a refrigerator, Tv and air conditioning. Bed was comfy enough- not luxurious, but a good value for the money! And the free breakfasts , while they didn’t offer lots of choices, were fresh and delicious.
The Inn is old and the hallways slanted, but it adds to the charm. And there was parking, always a good thing.
We enjoyed Castlemaine inn, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park immensely, and would happily return!More
