My husband and I planned a last minute trip to Bar Harbor, Maine last weekend. We had such a great time. It was the first time we had traveled to Bar Harbor.

I found Castlemaine Inn online and decided that we would stay there. I called to make the reservation and the staff was very accommodating. Since it was short notice we slept in two different rooms during our 3 night stay. Both rooms were beautifully decorated and very clean. Breakfasts were very good. The inn is right in Bar Harbor and walking distance to many stores and restaurants. Every morning we were greeted by the friendly staff and owner of the B&B. We were given advice on where to go and what to see during our stay. My husband and I will definitely go back again.

We stayed at the castlemaine inn and had a great time. The staff was extremely helpful. They were great with dinner reservations and activity reservations. They were so knowledgable and helpful. Breakfast was great every morning. We stayed in Suite Fine for 2 nights and it was ok. The mirrors are high and I'm 5'3 so that was a little difficult. The jet tub was great though. The bed was very firm which wasn't what we prefer. We also stayed in the honeymoon suite for a night and it was spacious and had a great bahroom. We would definetly go back!

My husband and I love to be absorbed into the areas we visit, so our choice of Castlemaine Inn was perfect. The Inn is nestled in a converted typical New England house, so immediately you get a homey feeling. We had an upstairs room (one of two that share the large upstairs balcony). The room was spacious, the bed very comfortable, and it had a fireplace! (We went in summertime, so unfortunately we couldn't enjoy that aspect of it!) The breakfasts were simple, but filling. They serve an assortment of different breakfast items -- hard boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, oatmeal, and muffins. We were lucky one morning to catch a fresh batch of right-out-of-the-oven blueberry muffins, which were mouthwatering!

Dan, the owner, was very friendly, and offered many suggestions of things to do and places to see. We were there for hiking, so he suggested a few of the best hiking trails in Acadia National Park (there are over 150 different trails, so we were a little overwhelmed trying to decide which ones to take). But the best suggestion he made was where to go for fresh lobster. He was right on the money for Thurston's Lobster Pound in Mount Desert Island.

The parking was a little challenging, but they had space available on a property right across the street, and we never had difficulty finding available space. The Inn is so close to everything in Bar Harbor that you really didn't even need to move your car to explore this quaint little seaside town.

It was a beautiful place (both the town and the Inn), and when you travel and are out and about all day, coming "home" at night is a very important part of that experience. We loved it and would stay there again if we ever get up that way in the future.

Room Tip: The upstairs room with access to the balcony (Rooms 10 & 11) are great for sitting outside watch...

I travel to Bar Harbor frequently for work and have found the CastleMaine Inn a great place to stay for such trips... Beautiful, clean and quiet rooms; most have access to an outside deck or porch. It is located close to town for an easy walk to conference facilities, shopping, food and drink with friends, a movie or a nice walk on the Shore Path. Staff and owner are very nice and helpful - not overbearing and respectful of privacy. Coffee, tea w/ fruit, muffins, toast and more for breakfast are a nice touch to start a day of work or early hike. WiFi works well in the rooms... Definately would recommend CastleMaine Inn to anyone looking for a really nice and affordable place to stay in Bar Harbor.

Room Tip: Have stayed in three different rooms... all were beautiful, had access to outside porch and especial...

My wife and I have spent our summer vacation at the Castlemaine Inn for 5 years in a row. We both look forward all year to our annual trip and we're never disapointed. We've stayed in several different rooms and they've all been great. My wife is a breakfast person and she loved the new chef and the hot breakfast. The Inn is very private but within walking distance of the restaurants and shops downtown. Dan,Bobbie and Jill are great innkeepers who make the visit a real treat. We'll be back next summer. Room Tip: all rooms are great it's just a question of how much space you require

This was our first trip (3 too short days) to Bar Harbor and were completely thrilled with our choice of this beautiful B & B Inn on a picturesque, quiet street within walking distance of everything in town. I was immediately in love with the view into the entry framed by the screen door on the porch, lovely wallpaper and crystal chandelier. Bobbi greeted us with an upgrade to the Eyebrow Room! Felt like royalty with a "fainting couch" and 4 poster bed and our own balcony - not to mention the exquisite window which is the room's namesake. Dan's suggestions for our introduction to Acadia were spot on and Jill was a delight serving the scrumptious breakfasts from Chef Molly. Even the lowly bowl of oatmeal became a treat. We liked having the options of eating on the porch, breakfast room or parlor. Unexpected pleasure in the DVD player in our room and a movie that we'd been wanting to see after a day of hiking & biking in the park. Dinner recommendations were great and they offered to make reservations for us when needed. We definitely felt that we'd made a great choice just from looking at the website and hope to return again and be pampered by their kindness and hospitality.
