“Excellent Stay!”
Reviewed September 29, 2010

We had reserved ahead for a room with a king bed and great view. We got those two requests as well as a much more spacious room than we had expected which was located on the top floor.

The room was very clean and the view of the bay was fantastic. I was hoping to see at least one cruise ship while in Bar Harbor but as it turned out I saw a few of them, didn't realise B.H. was so popular with cruise ships but hardly noticed the number of passengers as they pretty much boarded tour busses and left the downtown area. The availability of the free shuttle bus to the downtown (which picked us up at the door) was a real plus as we just left our car in the hotel parking lot and used the bus to get around to the areas we wanted to see. Front desk staff were friendly and helpful and at the time we were initally checking in he pointed out that there was a deer which had just come out of the wooded area on their property and was walking around on the lawn, haven't seen that at other hotels we've stayed at. If there were one "con" it would be the lack of hot items for breakfast but this gave us an opportunity to try breakfast at some of the local restaurants.

I have to say we were extremely satisfied with our stay and would recommend the Atlantic Eyrie to anyone.

My wife and I chose this hotel based on reviews of the hotel. We are glad we did. We stayed on the third floor and had a great view of the harbor. The room was very clean. I liked having two sinks in the room, one in the bathroom and the other near the door. The breakfast at the hotel was so-so, nothing special about it. The pool appeared to be very clean but people must walk down many steps to use it.
There is a shuttle service that runs from this hotel to downtown Bar Harbor. I highly recommend using it for anyone staying at this hotel. It saves people from trying to find a parking spot in town.

My wife and I stay for 3 nights in mid sept. The hotel is perched on top a hill overlooking the bay. The view from our balcony was nearly as good as some of the scenic overlooks on the park loop road. The room was very clean, and appeared to have been renovated recently. The rooms are very big.

The free breakfast provided is very basic, and we opted to go to Jordans in town for their blueberry pancakes one morning.

The first thing that struck us upon checking in was the cleanliness of the place. The staff are very friendly - we checked in very late after driving for several hours and were greeted with two friendly staff members that chatted with us and wished us a good vacation. The room was spacious (we stayed on the 4th floor) with a comfortable king bed, chairs/table, and sofa. There is an extra sink outside of the bathroom that was helpful when getting ready in the morning. The view from the balcony was outstanding - panoramic views of Frenchman's Bay, complete with beautiful sunrises. We saw deer outside our balcony on the first night. The pool looked very clean but we did not use it. Complimentary breakfast was good - bagels, toast, french toast, cereal, coffee, yogurt, etc. The location is perfect - outside of the busy downtown but a very quick drive. Take the shuttle if you can. Parking can be a challenge and the shuttle stops right at the front door of the hotel. This hotel was a perfect home base for us, as we spent most days either in downtown Bar Harbor or hiking in Acadia. Highly recommend this place - will stay again.

We booked this hotel based on recommendations from Traveladvisor and we were not disappointed. Our room was large, very clean and had a great balcony. We paid a little more to get a fourth floor room but the views were worth it. We had a perfect view of the July 4th fireworks from our balcony! We stayed 5 nights and did a lot of hiking and exploring around Acadia and this was the perfect home base. The shuttles were really convenient and pick up was right at the hotel. You can transfer to other shuttles to get around the park in Bar Harbor. We also walked into Bar Harbor several times and it only tool us about 15 minutes. This was our first time to Bar Harbor but we'll definitely go back and stay in this hotel.

First, dont judge this place by the outside, it does look a little creepy. Its a 4 story fairly institutional appearing pinkish building up on a hill. However, step inside and you'll find a great stay. Nice flower gardens in the back. We were on the 4th floor with a great view down to the water. We did drag ourselves up to Cadillac mtn one morning for sunrise but most of the time just laid in bed watching the sky change. Nice balcony for sipping morning coffee or a bottle of wine. The upper floors were remodeled most recently and I learned when requesting extra towels, apparently get bigger ones. It's simple motel style so dont expect a cozy B&B. But, the room was about twice the size of most motels, had a fridge and microwave, extra sink outside the bathroom, comfortable bed, what more do you need? I wouldn't really call it walking distance to town but a very quick drive. We didn't use the shuttle but it stops at the hotel. Staff was very helpful. Breakfast was just the basics to get you going, various breads, muffins, fruit, cereal.

Our family of 5 was able to sleep comfortably in our large room. The view was stunning, the breakfast was nice and the hotel was clean and well kept. I would love to come back again!
