Owner description: Downeast Windjammer Cruises A morning, afternoon or sunset sail with legendary Downeast Windjammer Cruises is fun for the whole family. Each offers a leisurely sail among the island of Frenchman Bay aboard one of two historic schooners: the twin-masted *Bailey Louise Todd* and the 151-foot *Margaret Todd*, the first four-masted schooner to work New England waters in over half a century. Guests can view Acadia National Park from the sea, watch lobster men hauling their traps, see the bay's abundant wildlife, have a picnic, or just relax on the spacious decks of these historic sailing vessels. There are three trips daily, each approximately 1.5 to 2 hours long. All cruises are dog friendly. For a different adventure take a ride on one of our ferries from Bar Harbor to the other side of Acadia National Park to Schoodic.

We took an afternoon cruise on a somewhat windy day. Crew was nice enough, but there was not really much narration/interesting facts shared along the way. We also didn't really sail anywhere, we sailed out, back in and out to the same spot again. Overall, it was nice cruising, but not for the price. If you want to see and learn about the area, I wouldn't recommend this trip.

We sailed on an afternoon cruise. Standard entry procedures with open seating. The cruise literally does not go anywhere. The crew was far from animated. Overall, it was a quiet, relaxing time. However, for the fees charged and the expectations, this was nothing special. I would not recommend this cruise.

There was 4 of us on this trip and all of us did not like this attraction. We had high hopes, the tall red sails and style of ship was so authentic looking....we were excited. There was no wind this day so we literally just SAT in the harbor, the captain did point out 2 birds, we saw 1 light house in the far distance. 2hours of NOTHING!!! Very disappointed, actually more then half the ship felt the same way, there was nothing else to do but talk to other people...I wish I could have seen more of Frenchman's Bay then the island in I front of us and our boat dock behind us. We complained to 2 of staff and no help. Disappointed...

The crew was great. We got a chance to raise the sails! Great time to take pictures, enjoy the view. It's cold but its definitely worth it. Very nice captain and interesting facts throughout the tour. I highly recommend it :)

We were very lucky that having reserved tickets for a sunset sail, the sun actually came out half an hour before we embarked.
It's a beautiful feeling to be under sail in a windjammer. It was also fun and interesting to see how the heavy sails were raised by the crew and volunteers together.
We were entertained by a strolling musician who played requests from an extensive list, but it would have been enough to watch the scenery go by, as the fog bank rolled toward us over the Island of Mt. Desert.
I recommend buying hot beverages and snacks on shore before the sail, and wear about three times as many layers as you'll think you'll need because of the wind chill on the water while under sail.
