We stopped at Bar Harbor for the day from the cruise ship MS Veendam for this pre-booked tour and were glad we did, we were driven into Acadia National park for this 2 hour shoreline walk, Michael Good was our guide and excellent he was too with his knowledge of the area and wildlife it was a pleasure to be out with him, being very patient with everyone and making sure all could see the birdlife and local beauty spots, if ever we were to come back this would be first on the list for us to do a proper tour with Michael.

Michael Goode is a gem! Knowledgable and passionate about nature and ecosystems, his 4 hour nature tour is wonderful. Recommend you bring water, snacks and bug spray. He picks you up and drops you off at your place which is a big plus!

My family and I did the four hour bird watching tour with Michael Good. My entire family is in agreement that this tour was by far one of the major highlights of our trip. Michael drove us to a number of ecosystems with plenty of diversity of wildlife. He was extremely knowledgeable about Mount Desert Island and its flora and fauna.
The day before I had done some hiking and could hear plenty of birds but was unable to find them among the dense foliage of trees. Michael was able to draw smaller birds out into the open by using bird calls to pique their interest. At the end of our trip we saw several osprey, a pileated woodpecker, a bald eagle, black-bellied whistling ducks (extremely rare for Maine), and several species of warblers among others.

We spent a wonderful 4 hours with Michael Good. He's very knowledgeable about birds. He impressed all four of us, even though we had quite a range of birding experience. It was early in the season, and we didn't see any birds in the first half hour. But by the end of the tour, he found around 20 species of birds for us. In one area, we were looking for one particular bird but had trouble finding it. Just as we were leaving the area, one of us spotted the bird, which immediately took off. The four of us barely got a glimpse at it. But Michael identified it, whipped out his camera, and showed us photos of what we had been looking for. Amazing! In addition, he showed us parts of the island that we wouldn't have been able to see on our own. Highly recommended! The next time we're in Maine, we'll be looking him up again.

Michael is a very knowledgeable guide and during our five hour tour of the area around Bar Harbor we were able to identify 40 species with confidence, learn information about the glacial formation of the local geology and visit private locations where we were the only birders present and the birds were happily feeding. Michael can imitate local bird calls and managed to show off much of the unique wild life as a consequence. He had his Scope set up, trained and focused before we had even seen the quarry on many occasions.
As if that wasn't enough his own back garden is a haven of flora and fauna, we saw many fungi, trees and even handled a garter snake that crossed our path.
Michael is great host who transported us around safely from woodland to shoreline during our tour. Great value for money and thoroughly enjoyable.
