“BEST lookin' hamburger I've ever seen in my life!!!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 26, 2011

The food was super, and the title burger was HUGE!! Three times as much meat as anything McDonald's serves, plus a ciobatta-like roll, cheese INSIDE the pattie, sauce, tomatoes, lettuce, all the trimmin's. My Dad got the "Hatter Burger" and we all looked on, and resolved to get one of our own next time. I got a "Philly Cheese Chicken", and it was excellent, great roll and cheese. The other good thing was the sides---they offer no french fries, or commercial chips, but they make their OWN chips, and ABSOLUTELY TO DIE FOR potato wedges! I had the wedges and they were crisp and crunchy on the outside, and soft and hot inside. Yum. Also, they have specials every night and this night's were all sandwiches for $6.50. Can't beat that! Our server told us that they do no frozen food at all, it's all fresh. Excellent service, too, and fast.
Our only con about the place was the decor---we were an older group, 50 and 70's, and the garish green paint and stark lighting didn't do anything for charm for us, not cozy at all, nor did we like the rock music, but the lovely waitress turned it down for us before we even asked.

“Watch the game, drink some beer, and play some Buck Hunter”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 18, 2010

It's a nice place to watch the game- big TVs and awesome happy hour beer specials (ie, Pabst is a dollar). Mad Hatter is away from all the cruise ship traffic of downtown Bar Harbor, so you've got tons of space, you can hear the people you came with, and you don't have to fight anyone to play BUCK HUNTER SAFARI!!!

It's absolutely perfect during the middle of the day Saturday to have a few beers and watch some sports. Half-time is always better with a Buck Hunter break, some friendly banter with the bartender, and some wings from the bar.

“Great bar, friendly staff and patrons.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 4, 2010

Was in Acadia park for the week and found this place to watch the weekend football games and found Mad Hatter to be very accommodating. Numerous TVs, great selection of beverages and the portabella fries were excellent. Management and staff were very friendly and helpful to out of towners and the local patrons friendly and helpful as well. A great place to hang out.

“Happy Hour at the Mad Hatter”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 18, 2010

Four of us had a great visit. Happy hour was really 3 hours (3 to 6) and we enjoyed the 1/2 price drinks and $5.00 appetizers. The beer selection was great. The chairs were very comfortable bunji cord style. Our lobster rolls were expertly prepared with only a light mayo dressing. Our Wedge Fries were awesome, hot and fluffy inside. The Nachos were crisp and flavorful with real cheese and fresh salsa. The portobelo fries were thick and meaty with excellent seasoning. The number and placement of TV screens made for easy viewing of sporing events. Service was prompt and very helpful - although we were the only customers. Value was great at $54.00 for 8 drinks and 4 appetizers. Give it try! You'll like it.
