We have been to the Side Street Cafe several times over the past few years when vacationing in Bar Harbor. Usually we drive, but this time came to town on a cruise ship.
Although the location is a little ways off the main road up the hill, it is well worth the walk compared to the restaurants closer to the tender docks. If you do come by car, there is a convenient and close public parking area.
The food has been excellent each time we have dined here. The lobster stew is chunky and the lobster roll is among the best we've had. If you are into it, the lobster mac is another signature dish.
The local Bar Harbor craft beer is on draft with a good variety of choices.
Staff is very helpful about ingredients and service has been good. Inside, the tables we have sat at are display case style with family photos, trinkets and sayings. Sometimes a wait, but again, is worth it.
