A clean and friendly B+B with knowledgeable and helpful staff in a nice town. It is within easy walking distance to the town centre and picturesque harbour. We stayed in the louisberg room which has a lovely view of the garden. The wine and cheese served between 5:00 and 7:00 each evening is a great way to get to know the owner and her family . In addition the commual dining area (used for breakfast) around a large table is a good way to meet fellow travellers. However there are plenty of quieter areas such as the tables in the garden, sun room or on your own private balcony where you can eat with in more privacy. We have no hesitation recommending this B+B to anyone else to use.

The Mira Monte Inn in Bar Harbor
My 25 year old daughter & I just had a 5-day "reunion" at the Mira Monte Inn and loved it. We enjoyed being a short walk from downtown Bar Harbor and a two mile bike ride into Acadia Nat'l. Park. The breakfasts were wonderful and we really enjoyed the buffet style, rather than being fed a "set" menu. The staff was always friendly, available, and we enjoyed the interaction with Marian, the owner. The house itself is adorable, picturesque, and the flower gardens add to the ambience. We also enjoyed the daily "happy hour" with wine and snacks. We would definitely choose it again!

We have a special relationship with Mira Monte Inn and innkeeper Marian Burns, which just might color our response! We first stayed there in 1981, when Marian acquired and began improving the property, and we became very friendly with her. She has done wonders with it, both inside and in the gardens. We have stayed there about four times since, though it's a bit outside our usual price range. There are many nice touches to the rooms and amenities, and the breakfasts and early evening wine and cheese social. The only difficulty one of us has (at age 80) is the steepness and lighting of the stairs. But it's a wonderful experience to stay there and enjoy the fellowship and hospitality!

You can't see the sea, but as the name implies you can get a glimpse of the mountains. The location on Mt. Desert Street is convenient for walking to the harbor and restaurants, and for driving out to Acadia National Park. As a native of Bar Harbor, Marian (and her staff) can give knowledgeable information on the area.

The Mira Monte was exactly as promised on their Website (great site with pictures of many of the rooms)! The room I had was comfortable and reminded me of my grandmother's home in the country...VERY comforting during a difficult trip. Breakfast was wonderful and the views from the front of the house are incredible, including a beautiful view of Cadillac Mountain. All, from the hostess to the consierge to the housekeeping staff (and all in between), were extremely helpful and pleasant!

I was very pleased that I chose the Mira Monte. It is a lovely and charming B&B with nicely appointed rooms, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was tasty and filling with many fine choices. A very friendly and helpful owner made our stay just perfect. This B&B is definitely recommended.
