The pretty photos for this post are NOT of Acadia's Ocean Trail, or Ocean Path that the reviewers are writing about. Ocean Trail is along the Park Loop Road starting at the top of the Sand Beach parking lot. It is gorgeous, walking along the rugged cliffs of Acadia above the pounding surf. It takes you past Thunder Hole and all the way to Otter Point. It is about 2 miles long (one way) with several parking areas along the way if you don't feel up to the walk. The scenic coastal photos you see of Acadia, are mostly from this area.
The photos you see for this post are of the Shore Path, not a part of the National Park Trail System. Shore Path is in the town of Bar Harbor that starts at the town landing and follows the edge of the shore for about 1/2 to 3/4 miles with access to roads that will loop you back to town. Shore Path is also very pretty, but in a very different way. There are no rugged cliffs and pounding surf, but you see many islands, pretty hotels/homes, and a shoreline with very interesting rock formations. It's a great place to sit on the rocks with a coffee watching the boats and seabirds.
