Delicious food, quick reliable service, good price. The BEST TOFU STEAK arrives sizzling hot with bonito flakes dancing around. The BEST TERIYAKI STEAK for at least the last 35+ years. The BEST NISHIME- not too sweet. Good tsukemono and miso soup. I love their shrimp tempura and the nabeyaki, udon, and domburi's are great as well. They are known for their cold saimin but I prefer their hot dishes. They still give you rice in the old fashioned Japanese family-style containers and refills are, of course, free. We have been going here since I was a child for special occasions and just causal get togethers. Their catering service is great too. Kuni also has a old fashioned neighborhood bar which can get quite loud so don't plan on a quiet evening. It is a Waipahu tradition and an institution!
