Owner description: Chief's Luau is TripAdvisor's highest rated luau in the state of Hawaii. It is the ultimate authentic, interactive and romantic experience that culminates with a spectacular 10-minute, 8-man fire knife dance. You will feel you were invited to the Chief's backyard. Experience up-close and personal activities with Chief's entire cast, 'imu ceremony and a sumptuous dinner buffet. Stunning ocean-mountain vista, the smallest and most intimate of all luaus on Oahu, located only 25 minutes from Waikiki. Produced by Chief Sielu Avea.

My husband and I had to be talked into going to this luau...as we both thought "waste of time, expensive, touristy". I have to say that we're very glad we went! The chief was very entertaining..he kept us laughing all evening. Just listening to him was worth the price of the tickets. We basically attended this event to see the dancers, and were certainly not disappointed. They were all absolutely fabulous, especially the fire-dancers...not ever seen so many fire-dancers on stage at once...it was incredible! Other than the dancing, one of the most fun parts of the evening was watching the warriors take the roasted pig from the pit, with the chief explaining the entire process. We didn't attend this luau expecting the food to be fabulous, but like to point out, it wasn't awful either (just don't go thinking this will be 5 star dining). Considering this luau has only been operating for the past 6 months, I think they're doing a great job.

This was a fabulous show. The setting was perfect a nice grassy field with an ocean view.

We had attended a different Luau on our first visit to Oahu 2 years ago; we felt like just 2 more people sitting with 1,000 of our closest friends. Then we went to the "show" part of the event in a different theatre and if you didn't buy the expensive package the view was quite obscured. After that experience we decided to do more reasearch this time around.

We found Chiefs Luau on line and even though it was a new production there were many positive reviews.

We chose the middle priced package because we felt it was the best value although there isn't a bad seat at this Luau. We enjoyed a tasty Buffet supper with the standard Luau fare, the food was good but this Luau is about the show. The chief is funny and the rest of the cast put on a wonderful show of many Polynesian cultures.

The finale was a seemingly endless diplay of Fire knife dancing with The chief and as many as 6 others.

A great show and a perfect way to spend my wife's birthday

One of the trip requirements from my wife was to attend a luau. I did considerable online research and decided on “Chief's Luau” I booked it through Oahu Luaus and saved some money. They were very good in confirming and telling us where to pick up the bus to the luau. The day before the luau we received a text message to remind us where to get the bus. The bus ride to the luau – held at Sea Life Park – went well with the guide delivering an interesting and humerus patter. The scenery was very nice. The ride took about 25 minutes – apparently making this luau closer than most of the other out of Honolulu luaus.

Excellent site on the Sea Life Park grounds with wonderful views of the sea and Rabbit Island. We could see the Makapuu Lighthouse. Three parasailers were gliding for the 90 minutes before sunset. While waiting for the food, there were various activities such as spear throwing, fire starting, palm frond weaving, airbrushed 'tattoos' and others. The pig was uncovered and soon dinner started. It was a big buffet with the pig as shredded pork (tasty), fish, teriyaki chicken, fruit, vegetables and , of course, poi.

After dinner the entertainment started. It was excellent with dances from the various islands. Of course I liked the Tahitian girls the best! The climax was an excellent and rather lengthy Samoan fire dance. The MC, a Samoan chief, was excellent with a constant stream of information and jokes.

We paid for the standard package. More expensive packages had a different lei (ours was shells) and more (alcoholic) drinks as well as a better seating location. Our seating was close enough.

I'm glad we took the bus. The ride home in the dark, on a narrow, curving road would not be pleasant, especially if one had a few drinks.

It was well worth the cost and an excellent show.

We didn't expected much and we enjoyed a lot in with Chief's Luau. The entertainment and interaction were amazing. The chief was humorous and told us so many interesting history stories. Everyone was laughing. We took many photos and videos, and so much fun to share with friends.

The Chief was hilariously entertaining and the food was awesome. Highly recommend this awesome evening of entertainment. We were in Hawaii for a family wedding so had a large group of 23 of us attending this event. They were awesome at insuring we had a large reserved table and could sit together. The Dancing, Music and Laughter was free flowing and the Chief was a highly entertaining host. Our 2 Children - 2 & 9yrs both loved to dance and both went up on stage to be part of the show.

We were staying in Eva Beach, so this was about an hour drive for us. But well worth it.
