Of the four of us, I was the only one who would return. Food was very healthy (my family called it "too earthy") but perhaps it's a little too risky when you have kids. It's not like there's a cheese quesadilla option. Then again, you could always hit Keneke's for the kids then swing by the Beach Cafe. I wouldn't drive out of my way to go there, but if staying in the area again I would certainly go back... albeit by myself. *wink*

Perfect breakfast with scrambled eggs, cheese and mango salsa all in a soft wrap. Great start to our day and road trip around the island

Food was superb, beverages interesting, decor fascinating. You can wile away the time enjoying the art work and perusing the eclectic furniture, etc. The new owner aims to please. Service is wonderful. This is a wonderful addition to an already special town on the Oahu map.

My sweet love did her usual excellent research before we explored the beauty of the eastern coastal side of Oahu and directed me to this wonderful little cafe.

The cafe recently, this year (early 2013) changed owners. The new owner, the only one we know, is a very hospitable, genuinely nice, retired lady who appreciates the positive effect service+attitude+product can have on a business. To that equation, this owner has it down pat.
Entering the establishment the café has a small ordering counter with the kitchen in clear view.
We had the chicken salad on a croissant……like you have never had it made before…….it was so incredibly good (see my picture)….and she’ll modify it anyway you want!!!! She aims to please and does it well. Her ‘Friday’ is a pleasant young woman from Alaska who assembles the owner’s creations. For desert the cookies may be wrapped like they are mass produced, but they aren't……I suggest the Oatmeal Raisin!

If you like espresso, it’s the best this Sicilian raised man has ever had….this lady takes great pride in explaining how to make espresso correctly from her very expensive industrial strength Italian espresso maker.

After ordering enter the dining area; kind of reminds you of a very nice sitting room; couches and chairs set to glass tables and tropical paintings adorning the walls. Nothing shabby about this room; whether you parked an old VW bug, a Yukon Denali, or a 599 outside, you’ll feel at home.

Lunch is brought to you and served. When done, DO NOT clean off your own table…there is a sign posted!!!

We loved this café and would have gone every day if it weren't for having to deal with Honolulu traffic to get there.

Oh…..and don’t bring your American Express card, because this delightful little café only accepts cash.

On the main drag on the east coast of O'ahu, Waimanalo Beach Cafe & Gallery offers a compact & surprisingly gourmet breakfast & lunch menu with artisan coffees & espresso drinks. The peach, blue and sunset-colored stucco walls might first draw your attention to this little spot, but the delicious food and eclectic assortment of tables, chairs, comfy sofas & pick-your-own CD's may keep you situated there much longer. (Forget about the fact that out front or next door you might see a few lost souls or homeless guys wandering around... they won't bother you.) We arrived right after the doors opened this morning to the chipper greetings of Siobhan, who was running the place single-handedly with aplomb. While juggling several different sets of folks dashing in & ordering a variety of espressos, coffee drinks & juices, Siobhan pulled together two glorious "Gorg Croissants," a specialty breakfast sandwich featuring melted gorgonzola cheese. The warmed, flaky, split croissants held together multiple ingredients, including the gorgonzola cheese, an egg, grape tomatoes, bacon slices & other veggies. Yum. There are a variety of seating areas inside and out, with paintings and artwork from local artists covering the walls. Most are for sale. Because they have an old Baldwin upright piano on one wall, I will be back later today to play. Siobhan cheerily encouraged me to come on back, turn the volume down on the CD player & feel free to tickle the ivories at my leisure. It's cash only here, so keep that in mind -- especially if you plan to buy one of the many island-inspired artworks. Aloha. Enjoy.
