“One of the best family beaches we have been on”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 7, 2012

This is a great family beach, further north than waimanalo beach, you turn into the military base, and it is a lovely stretch of beach, good sized waves for our boys to enjoy, boogie boarding was great for them. Only problem is beach is only open at weekends, the rest of the time closed for military use. Really a shame as is a great family beach. Once again toilets are not clean

“Closed occasionally”

Beautiful beach, however there are sometimes restriction on use. Military maneuvers may close the beach on occasion. But if you get a chance, or are military, go.

“Beautiful Bellows”

Long, white sand beaches with pine trees for shade and BBQ areas for picnicing. One of our favorite places to go to relax and enjoy!

“It's down that LONG and WINDING road, and it is worth the trip”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 26, 2012

OK; I looked on the map and it said Bellows Air Force Base (which is an R&R base only) and my GPS said it was on Tinker Road. Which when I followed the map WAS a very LONG and WINDING road for sure. In fact the posted signs told us to NOT enter, but seeing that we were military (ARMY) we had ID's and figured that it would be OK. We found the Public part of the park and it was empty, not a sole around at all. They must have read the signs. So we went out to the beach and it is the BEST of the beaches in Hawaii that we experienced in our two weeks on the island of O'ahu. And if the public section of the beach was great, the military side of the beach was even MUCH better, if you are military show your ID and go to the military section. There plenty of the Hawaiian Sea Turtles here (at high tide is the best time to see them) near the small tidal creek. The best suggestion is to drive along the North Shore first and then get you GPS out and follow TINKER Road (when there are NO military exercises there) and spend the day on a clean beautiful beach and enjoy a picnic under the windswept trees, we did both and had agreat time.

Before you go to the beach GO TO their web site and view the images of the beach and see what I am talking about.
