Hale 'Nalo Beach Rentals
Reviewed May 15, 2012

My husband and I have traveled through out the carribean and central America, we have stayed at lovely places, but nothing comes close to our recent trip to Hawaii
I spoke with the owner before I booked and she is wonderful!! She gave us all the information about the area, the rooms, the beach and what we could expect on our vacation.
When we arrived I could not believe how perfect EVERYTHING was!!
The beach is great for swimming and boogie boarding ( which she supplies)
along with all your other beach needs.
We basically had a private beach, it was amazing.
The rooms are clean and well designed and decorated, you also have access toa washer and dryer, which is great while staying at the beach
I cannot wait to return
If you want a beautiful place to relax, or explore this meets both needs
This trip exceeded all expectations
Highest reccomendation I have ever given!

We stayed in the Garden Suite the last week of March and it was just great, breezy, light, roomy, quiet, relaxed and comfortable, just the sound of birds and rustling leaves, with everything we needed to live in and the outside gas grill produced some perfect country ribs, sides were easy on the induction plate and microwave. We were so close to the most perfect beach, just a short stroll and nobody there, the surf perfect for boogie board and body surfing, and so clean, free of kelp, rocks, wood, it was just white sand and blue water and Herlinda had all the beach stuff you could think of, don't buy anything til you see it. This is in a neighborhood, it's like you live there, and Herlinda recommended some great locals only type places to shop and eat, Herlinda was so helpful and friendly, it was like we were old friends and knew each other for years. We went to Honolulu a few times, and Herlinda knew the best places even there. We will go back, it just felt so natural and friendly staying at Hale Nalo.

Room Tip: Take advantage of the garden, the lawn, trees and private table and the gas grill. Follow Herlinda...

We spent four blissful nights in the Zen Treehouse room at Hale 'Nalo, and we wish we were still there now! Herlinda is a truly delightful and highly professional hostess. Our reservation and all the details of our stay were flawless, and she gave us great recommendations for food and activities. We slept like babies in the king size bed, and we spent hours enjoying the beautiful beach just a 1-minute walk from our door. Everything in the room was well designed and thought out, from the comfy, clean furniture to the excellent kitchen and bathroom and environmentally sensitive products. As other reviewers have mentioned, the "Treehouse" has two balconies and lots of windows, along with three ceiling fans. We felt like we were able to enjoy that soothing windward-side air instead of being cooped up in a traditional hotel room. For us, Hale 'Nalo provided a quiet, lovely place to unwind from our hectic lives. We could do yoga, take naps, read books, watch movies, or just enjoy the views, all in a peaceful setting that encourages reflection and restfulness. As for the excellent town of Waimanalo... cool breezes, greenery everywhere, pali rising above the turquoise ocean, doves and cardinals in the trees, fresh pineapple, hot coffee, great fish tacos down the street, close to Kailua and Honolulu, and one of the most breathtaking beaches in the world. We are putting our time at Hale Nalo at #1 on our "best experiences" list for Hawaii.

Room Tip: Zen Treehouse is amazing!

Our Hale Nalo experience was phenomenal. The location was ideal with quick car access to Honolulu and numerous tourist sites, and nestled in a peaceful village only 60 yards to a spectacular beach. The Garden suite was extremely well equipped, clean and comfortable. All three suites at the Hale Nalo were occupied during our week long stay, but we rarely seen our neighbors and never heard them from within the suite. With full access to the yard, BBQ, washer, dryer and beach equipment, we felt as though we were renting a complete home rather than just a suite. This was our fourth visit to Hawaii and by far the best in terms of accommodation. If you want a quiet couple's retreat, with outstanding uncrowded beaches, you will be pleased if you choose the Hale Nalo. Herlinda will treat you exceptionally well.

We arrived to a friendly hello and welcome. We were instantly greeted by the Inn Keeper Herlinda, and Wayne, who is a friend of hers. He was helping her with some cosmetic work to the property. It was nice to see the care that went into the property. With Hale Nalo there is no formal check-in, but we immediately found our room (one of the smaller suites on the first floor), and on the door was our names to greet us, another nice touch. We were told by Herlinda that the beach was just a minute walk from the property. So, we off loaded our bags and took the short walk (Literally a minute). There we found amazing views!!! The second night of our stay there we upgraded to the "Zen Tree House" and there is no other way to describe it, but the name itself...Zen!!!. It was beautiful and very well laid out with your own balcony off the front and back of the unit...Lots of windows (and two slider doors) to let in the light and the great Hawaii breeze from the beach. Throughout our stay if we had any questions or wanted to know about anything Herlinda was always happy to give us suggestions... She gave us suggestions on where to go to eat, things to see and do, and how to get there. We took all of her advise, and we were very pleased with her suggestions. The other guests that were also there during our stay were very nice as well and never felt as though we were running into them too much. It was an absolute pleasure to have found such a wonderful gem and to meet such a wonderful person in Herlinda. We will definitely be returning to Hale Nalo on our next visit to Oahu (Which we hope is in the near future) It is an experience that we will never forget!!! Thank you Herlinda for everything!!! We spent only 2 nights at Hale 'Nalo, just before leaving our Hawaiian vacation. Herlinda
was a gracious and warm hostess, with many suggestions for local spots, and was not
at all intrusive. Although the suite was one room with a kitchenette built in and a bathroom,
it felt spacious, clean, and private. Our view was of Herlinda's lush, tropical gardens.
It rained for most of our time there, but we were lucky to be able to drive to some gorgeous
sites, including a nearby lighthouse with an easy hike and beautiful views. We also went
to the north side of Oahu and had some sunny weather mixed in with the "record rains."
It was a great couple of days, and too brief.

My husband and I recently returned to Alaska after staying in a Garden Suite at Hale Nalo. . .I am ready to go back! We had a very pleasant stay and would highly recommend it for a relaxing Hawaiian getaway. Our purpose of travel was for a rather large wedding on Waimanalo beach. The location was absolutely perfect for the event and out of all the other rentals at which our friends stayed, we definitely had the best accommodations. Hotels in the area are obviously not an option and I am not at all a fan of B & B's so I was somewhat skeptical of Hale Nalo since we knew there would be multiple guests. Fortunately we felt very private, safe, and comfortable. The Garden Suite was every bit as lovely as pictured online. As a self-proclaimed bona fide "clean freak" I was relieved to find the suite spotlessly clean. Herlinda is extremely organized and her emails prior to our arrival with logistical information as well as the binder in our room with adventure recommendations was greatly appreciated. She greeted us upon arrival and quickly showed us our room. She was available for questions as needed but was completely unobtrusive. The other guests were very quiet and respectful. My only gripe is that the wall between the two garden suites is rather thin. Fortunately noises (i.e. neighbors with sleep apnea) are easily drowned out by the calming sound of the ocean at night and happy tropical birds in the morning. All in all we had a delightful time and are eager to return someday in the future! Thanks for everything Herlinda!
