Makaha Beach Park is beautiful! We stayed very near Makaha for a week the last time we were in Hawaii. This beach has everything: snorkeling, surfing, swimming, and sea turtles! The beach was never crowded, and was in pristine condition. We drove all over Oahu on this trip, and usually felt like we should have just stayed on Makaha.

We were here in the winter so was some big surf. Watched them ride some big waves here, Lots of great pictures too.

We spent a whole day here at Makaha, after finding it just by driving by while on vacation.

This beach had THE best waves for bodyboarding and surfing intermediates, no dangerous shore breaks like other beaches in the area.

If you want a nice relaxing day on a not so crowded beach and if you have children even better, this is the place!

This is a nice beach park a little far from the Waikiki and Honolulu craziness. It is a good size beach, and literally had 30-40 people there. We didn't have anyone within 20 feet on either side of us!

There was great surf here, and a real local feel. We grabbed a few beverages, a cooler, and sat out here to watch the sunset. There is a great sunset because it is on the west side of the island. Only interesting thing is that it does involve some driving through very colorful areas of Oahu. However, it really does show you the local flavor!

This beach is great! Uncrowded and nice water with life guards. No sign of the homeless population that is often present at other leeward coast beaches.
