Owner description: One of the top Hawaii attractions includes the Polynesian Cultural Center, which features a 42-acre facility on the North Shore of Oahu. Founded in 1963, the nonprofit Center was created so that the students of nearby Brigham Young University Hawaii could work their way through college by sharing their island heritage with visitors. The students come from an area that covers approximately 12 million square miles of the Pacific Ocean.

“FOOD POISONING”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2010

The food was terrible let alone my entire party got food poisoning! We arrived in the afternoon, but due to the scheduling of shows we did not get to see very much. The highlights of the attractions were only performed once a day and they just didn't perform the last 2 shows that we wanted to see because of rain. The shows were okay, but it was hugely overpriced. Save your money, your time would be better spent laying on the beach.

“A Marvelous Time”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 16, 2010

We bought our Ambassador tickets on line. We did not realize we could have eaten lunch free and had eaten before we arrived, We were put with a group of 5 other couples. We had our own tour guide for the day. He assisted us in getting very good seats at events, taking us behind the scenes and answering many questions. Not one time did we feel pressured about this being owned and ran by the Morman Church. We were escorted to the Luau. We did not get the one with Prime Beef and still loved this entire preprogram. The food was excellent and you could go back for more. We received a lay and were treated very nicely. The program was excellent. It helped we were the fourth row and right in the center. We were very happy with this entire day. We only regret we did not have time to return free and explore more.

“Boring, hot, bad service, rude staff. In a word - terrible.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 15, 2010

We went for the afternoon and evening - individual village culture shows, luau and show. The show wasn't terrible - although it was pretty long and boring. That was a huge improvement over everything else. Unfortunately you have to endure everything else to get to the final show. The cultural shows were embarassingly bad. About 3 minutes of interesting information buried in an hour of really bad stand-up comedy in the direct sun - hot and humid. I couldn't keep up during the tour, and the guide kicked my wife out of the tour because I couldn't keep up. Good thing we had sprung for the "Ambassador" status so we would be treated so well... The hostess during the luau kept saying how we're all family and we don't leave anyone behind... Well, they left me behind, and kicked my wife out of the tour, and our table was never allowed to order drinks or anything else because they said our table waiter was supposed to order for us. This so-called table waiter only showed up at the last minute to kick my wife and I off our table so he could clean it wiki-wiki! Such hospitality!! The food at the luau was the most mediocre Hawaiian food that I've run across. The kalua pig was incredibly bland and tasteless. The best thing you could say was that it was a badly-carried-off clone of a Disney attraction. The only difference was that the animatronics at a Disney attraction were more sincere than the humans that these folks hired. The musicians were pretty talented and did pretty good Don Ho music - unfortunately, they were saddled with the rest of all this baggage - so it was pretty hard to appreciate. Do buy lots of water and drink it. Do bring your best walking shoes and coolest clothes. Do go with the guides if you want to do run fast from place to place and miss the last 5 minutes of each show. Do go on this tour if you want a hot, sticky, boring, expensive rude, waste of time which will ruin your entire Hawaiian vacation.

“A Must See and Do in Oahu!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 14, 2010

As you go through the villages you get a flavor of the land and its people. All of the demonstrators are friendly and willing to discuss their culture and olden beliefs. It was a remarkable experience for the whole family. The kids were interested the entire time (that WAS unusual). We had the buffet which provided an eating experience of a variety of foods that left us all stuffed. There is also an authentic luau for an additional amount that includes a show. The best was saved for last. A presentation depicting all of the cultures and their dance and music resulted in the grandest show on the island. We left with an appreciation of other cultures and the impact they have had on civilization. Mahalo.

“This attraction is overpriced”

Signed up for the Alii Luau which includes the luau and the show. I found the food to be average quality and the show about the same. I thought the price was high for what was received.
