Owner description: One of the top Hawaii attractions includes the Polynesian Cultural Center, which features a 42-acre facility on the North Shore of Oahu. Founded in 1963, the nonprofit Center was created so that the students of nearby Brigham Young University Hawaii could work their way through college by sharing their island heritage with visitors. “Horrible tourist trap by the Mormons”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

Do not be fooled by the advertising. This was one of the worst displays of price gouging and horrible prosthelytizing i have ever experienced. The Mormons own and operate this "cultural" center. If you want to see non-natives presenting culture with a biased westerner view, then by all means attend. The food was awful, and I mean REALLY awful, and the performers we lackluster and unpracticed. Do you, your wallet and your family a favor, stay far away. The wasted money was bad, bu the wasted day when you are on vacation is worse.

“Dont Miss This Activity!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 5, 2013 via mobile

We have been here for a week now and PCC was definitely the highlight of our holiday so far. To think we nearly give this a miss and only go for the 'Ha-Breath of Life' after reading negative reviews from some travellers!

We bought the Ambassador package, which includes admission to PCC, a guided tour, prime buffet dinner, VIP seating for Ha-Breath of Life and an optional backstage tour/visit to the Mormon temple. This is a good deal!

The guide's tour (I am referring to the guided tour fr PCC and not external tours from other tour companies) makes a whole lot of difference, hence, I suggest not skimping on this, as the guide basically escort you to all the important activities at PCC (for almost 4hours tour) and give us very interesting and hilarious facts about each activity and the PCC it self. You wont waste time checking the map and not knowing what to do next.

Samoa was the Best show and most hilarious, however we missed out on the canoe pageant and tree climbing as it was raining. Even the rain did not ruin the PCC tour for us amd surprisingly, my 16 yo daughter enjoyed it very much as well, even in the rain, when she would normally be complaining about the rain ruining her hairdo and make-up!

The drummers, where they picked some participants from the audience, were hilarious too. Must do!

The prime dining met expectations and we enjoyed it.

As the guided tour starts at 12pm, we were exhausted by 6.30pm after dinner and did not bother doing the backstage tour or the Mormon temple.

We waited till 7.15pm for admission to Ha-Breath of Life. Show could be better, as we compared it to another Polynesian show that we watched while holidaying in Disneyland Orlando in 2011, which involves lots of fire acts, and less mushy stuff. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed the show.

If anyone reading the reviews are thinking twice about visiting PCC, we'd say, do it, take the Ambassador Package, you won't regret it! After all, what's another few hundred when you have spent tens of thousands of dollars (like us, all the way from Australia) coming to Hawaii. ALOHA!

“Amazing- can't miss”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 3, 2013

Spent all day at the PCC on the ambassador pass, had a hilarious guide that really did treat us as family. Presentations and exhibits were incredible, and so was dinner (luau) and the evening show. Took the bus up there and back which was very convenient. It's mostly run by students at the BYU campus and they do try to get you to visit/support it, but fair enough. Definitely the highlight of our stay on Oahu.

P.S. the packages are worth it. Do not just show up and get admission, especially if it's your first time.

“Excellent full day experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

My family of 6 went there on New Years Eve, and had a great day out.
The bus trip from Waikiki was exceptional due to the bus tour guide host (Uncle Walter) who had us laughing the entire way - over an hour.
Entry was pretty smooth and we transitioned across to the park hosts.
Our host was an 18 year old uni student who was quite knowledgable and tried hard to please us all (we were in a group of 20). We were happy to have a more quiet, less intrusive host because the screams of a couple of the others "Come on family, stick with me family" started to annoy me. I hate to think what the groups themselves were going through.
The only real problem is that the place is too big to capture in a few hours. We were walking past activities that the kids were interested in, and proceeded to others. We are going to return for a second day (which you get complimentary if you purchase the "Ambassador" package).
Food was pretty good. Lunch was as good as you can expect a big buffet to be, but the luau was a little disorganised.
The Ha show was a tiny bit cheesy but good entertainment. Be wary that it may be a little scary for young kids. The day was so long and involved that me and my wife were caught having a little nap mid way through the first half of the show.
The constant ice-cream selling got a little annoying during all shows on the day but thats the commercial world we live in.
The activities we participated in were really good. The kids enjoyed the weaving, boat ride, fire lighting, dance lesson, and so on. The Samoa show and drumming show were the best ones.
The park is well kept and well laid out.
Very clean and facilities were great.
I would recommend this park to any family who want a long and fun day of entertainment.
