“Great Luau for kids and groups”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

I have attended several Luaus on the islands and chose this one for a large group outing. The Luau is fun, busy and has something for everyone. Beautiful setting, activities for kids, lots of room, you don't feel crowded even though they had over 1,400 people at the luau the night we were there, shopping and even the customary girls in coconut bras for the Dads. The show is pretty good - a little too much variety show and not enough dance for my taste, but entertaining. The food is OK and the drinks are reasonable.

We had the standard package - shell lei and drink upon arrival, picture with costumed dancers, all the pre-luau activities including getting the pig out of the pit, 2 drinks, dinner and the show. It is a good value. We also made use of the bus service from Honolulu. Cousin Rich made the bus ride hysterical. We had a lot of kids with us and they all had a ball!

“No. 1 must see on Oahu”
Reviewed July 13, 2013

If there is one thing that is a must while on Oahu, THIS LUAU IS IT! It's an entertainment experience from the moment you are picked up by the tour bus to when you are taken back to your hotel. BTW all tour guides should be awarded with "Entertainers of the Year" awards, they even make the bus ride a fun experience! The setting of Paradise Cove is just what you picture Hawaii to be from movies or postcards; from the palm & coconut tree setting to watching a perfect sunset over the water. You arrive late afternoon, free mai tai on arrival and you are free to wander around the small village setting with activities such as hula lessons, making head or wrist bands with frangipani & orchid flowers, face painting for the children & parakeets for them to pat, demos of how to tie a sarong & numerous other activities including the ceremonial lifting of the pig from the underground fire pit. As evening falls, you are shown to your table; even with the basic package I purchased, sitting slightly off to the side of the stage, I had an excellent view of the show. The buffet was nothing short of a feast of traditional dishes and desserts. The show was just spectacular, not only Hawaiian but all Polynesian songs and dancers with the highlight being the fire dancer - awesome!!!

“Loads of fun”
Reviewed July 11, 2013

Cousin Kai was our bus host and was awesome. Beautiful location, with lots of free entertainment (plus an introductory drink) on arrival. Chose the basic package, and had quite good seating off to the side. Great viewing area to see the pig being taken out of the ground. Food was quite reasonable, and buffet line up wasn't too long. Evening show was very well done - especially the fire knives. For the trip home, Kai had the whole bus moving to the music and really enjoying ourselves. Found this better than Germaine's - which was located in the middle of an industrial estate.

“Best time on my holiday”
Reviewed July 10, 2013

This was a wonderful way to soak up the Hawaiin culture. Set in an idyllic location we were able to enjoy traditional Hawaiin games and activities, then enjoy a wonderful feast and evening's entertainment. A must-do activity in Hawaii.

“Great Show and activites; Food left something to be desired.”
Reviewed July 8, 2013

We spent about 5 hours at Paradise Cove and were not bored for a minute of it. The main show is spectacular. We had seats within about 10 feet of the stage and loved it.

But this is an upcharge to get into this area. You also do not have to stand in line for dinner, they serve you. But this is a good news/bad news thing. True, they serve you, but most of the buffett people were done eating before we got our plates. There was a selection of 3 or 4 foods, a small amount of each.

Had I been able to serve myself at the buffet, I would have taken more of the things I liked, and skipped the rest. The food was very bland. The fried chicken was good, but the same you get anywhere. We had hoped the roast pig would be good, but again, absolutely no seasoning or sauce, just roast pork without much taste.

They had a woman taking the drink orders for our table, and I don't think she got a single order correct. It was almost amusing to watch, except we were getting thirsty.

But.....the main thing is we'd do it again. The show is great.
