“A Great Option”
Reviewed November 27, 2013

We dined at Monkeypod two nights in a row. Both times we sat outdoors and enjoyed the clouds reflecting the sunset. The proximity of the seating to the road is not an issue as the live entertainment played throughout most of our meal. The food on both occasions was well prepared and the offerings were sufficient to meet a variety of tastes (vegetarians to carnivores). The salads were fresh and crisp, (portions could have been a little bigger). The pizzas were very tasty and the choices had some local flavorings. The Macadamia Crusted Mahi Mahi was rich and well prepared. Desert was the highlight with our daughter raving about the chocolate creme pie. The only noticeable issue was that service from the bar was slow at times (15 minutess to get a second drink with dinner) and there were periods of inattention from the staff supporting our waiters (both of who were very helpful and professional on both nights). Happy Hour is a recommended option as appetizers, pizza, and some drinks were half-off. The wait can get longer as the proximity to the resorts brings a lot of guests with the same meal time in mind.

“Excellent service, relaxing music unfortunately...bad food”
Reviewed November 26, 2013 via mobile

The setting is very peaceful and welcoming. The atmosphere is relaxed and friendly. Service was excellent. Joel waited on us and provided many options. After hearing rave reviews at the marriott, we were disappointed when we received our food. Overall, the food was very greasy and overseasoned. There was live entertainment which positively added to the relaxed atmosphere. Thankfully, the desserts were the saving grace.

“Nice change from the Aulani food”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

It's a short walk across the wide street from Aulani. We didn't know but that have happy hour prices after we got our check. We ordered drinks and appetizers ("pupus"), all of which were pretty good. Sat upstairs as the live music downstairs seemed too loud. Only problem is that the sunset was in the faces of the other patrons upstairs. I would recommend it. It's cheaper than Aulani with a variety of local type foods.

“Best nearby choice. Only nearby choice!”
Reviewed November 24, 2013

Food, location, and service are superb. If you are at any of the Ko Olina properties, this is about it for casual but good dining. Roy's is another $ tier higher, so no kidding.

“Friendly Service, Great Food, Cool Atmosphere”
Reviewed November 22, 2013 via mobile

My wife, some friends, and I met at The Monkey Pod Kitchen last night on the recommendation of local friends as well as Trip Advisor ratings. The drinks were great - strong, hand-crafted, and featuring local ingredients. Our group split some great appetizers, the raw bar trio and the pumpkin patch ravioli were our favorites. I had the best Grilled Ahi meal of our entire trip to Hawai'i and my wife had a great Butternut Squash Pizza. We'll definitely hit up Monkey Pod again, thanks for a scrumptious evening!
