I've stayed at almost every 4/5 star resort in Oahu--so, obviously, I go there quite often. Regardless, the staff is one of the best I've seen in the 1000+ hotels I've been to--some try and learn you by name, which is always wonderful.

The facilities are amazing. The pools are wonderful. The view = wow.

If there was a 6th star, Marriott Ko Olina would receive it.

I am very confused by the positive reviews for this hotel. There is major construction on all sides that can be heard from every room, the pool, and the beach. If you are on your honeymoon and want a quiet, romantic getaway, the JW Marriott is next door and is amazing.

We did call ahead to confirm (several times) that we would have a quiet room and would not be disturbed by the noise. We were lied to and told that we had "the best room" in the hotel. We checked out after the first morning wake up call from the crane that was positioned directly in front of our balcony. The jack hammer and drilling can be heard even from the pool and the beach. Not exactly a relaxing time!

I have been to many hotels over the years and have never been as disappointed as I was in the Ko Olina Marriott. Luckily,
we were able to get a room at the JW Marriott next door and had the most amazing week ever. The staff was so nice and accommodating. The room was great and we could not hear any noise in our room at all.

If you plan on going to the Ko Olina, I would reconsider immediately.

Wow, we really had a great time at the resort. It is so pretty, please do yourself the justice of getting a villa, there are pictures of them on the internet. I just can't say enough about this resort. Yes, Hawaii is expensive but we got the villa for $800 with a car for 5 days, my brother is in the military and we went grocery shopping for all our food needs. The food is expensive, for 2 turkey sandwiches, fries, drinks and one alcoholic drink was $48.00. Ouch, we hurried up and went to the grocery store. The resort did give us $50 food coupon and a free party coupon. There is no free nightly entertainment, but it really didn't bother me. The lagoons are nice and the staff is really friendly. The cleaning lady cleaned my room everyday. You have to get your souviners at the stadium, things are cheap. I really don't have one bad thing to say about Hawaii. Just ask for directions if you have a rental car, people are really nice and laid back. I've been to Jamaica and Mexico but for right now Hawaii rocks, and the best part about the trip is that it is in the U.S. We had a 7 hour delay in Las Vegas, we flew ATA the cheap airline, but things work out because we got free round trip tickets to go back next year, they also gave us a food voucher. Yeah, we get to go back to Maui in March 08 and I can't wait.

Stayed a week at the Ko Olina Beach club as the son of an owner. It was awesome! There were 4 of us. It is about a 1/2 hour drive from Honolulu Itnl. Right when you walk into the lobby, you are blown away by the Hawaiian atmosphere. There was fresh juice in chilled dispensers and fresh flowers out. We were treated with respect at the front desk and placed in the Kona tower looking out towards the marina. Our room was imaculate. They have these "vacation essential" packs in the rooms, with samples of dishwasher detergent and things like a Gilette razor and Oil of Olay. It really is nice to have a washer and dryer in the room to put your swimming suits and sort in. We ate the first day at Kolohes on the beach. The entertainment was really impressive and it is the best atmosphere at night with all the torches lit. The lagoons are, I think, the best part of this resort. The sand is perfect and they have showers and foot washes everywhere. It is nice to have a grassy and shaded spot to get out of the sand. The beach cabanas were numerous on our trip and we never had a problem finding one to rent. The snorkeling was fair. I think the fish are still moving in. We liked going out on the Ko Olina Cat, catamaran. It was seriously the best. They take you just north of the resort to a pipeline teaming with fish. We saw turtles, dolphins, and all sorts of fish. Worth the money! The pools are nice when you want a break from the beach. There are BBQ' s with all the tools for you to cook your own steaks. It is sooo nice to smell the burgers and shrimp while you are laying out on a pool chair!

This side of Oahu really is like being in the country. It is far from the rat race of Waikiki, but close enough to civilization. It is only a 10 minute drive to Kapolai to go to the Safeway to get things for your fridge. There is also a cineplex there for movies. A Walmart is only 15 minutes away, with everything else. The north shore can be reached in 40 minutes flat. Miliani Town was our favorite for restaurants. It is on the way north.

Much has been written of the construction. It really was minimal during our stay. We were out exploring the island during the day, so we didn't notice it much. It would not deter me from coming here. They are mostly in the later phases of construction and there wasn't much heavy machinery sounds. Mostly welding. All construction stops at 5 o'clock. Besides, construction wont last forever, and this will be a prime spot when it is done. It is a perfect spot for families. We did not take our children, but spent the entire time wishing we had. (Well, maybe not the ENTIRE time :) ...) If you are with the party crowd, try closer to Waikiki. Much has been said about the time share aspect of Ko Olina. We were only asked twice to listen to a presentation. It IS part of the deal here, but it is not like going to an "Amway" or "Hoover Vacuum" convention or anything. Pressure was very light. After all, you can just say no, and they leave you alone.

We had a killer time at Ko Olina. I will definately be returning.

Just returned from 7 nights at the Ko Olina Beach Club (we used our owner week for the first time) and absolutely loved it. The lagoons are pretty busy with fish - especially lagoon #2 which is in between this resort and the JW down the road. The two bedroom/2 bath had a full kitchen, washer/dryer, and ocean view. Pleny of room to spread out with two families. Sofa sleepers are a little bumpy but fine for kids. King in master and queen in guest room are very comfortable. Shopped at the Safeway down the road and cooked a few meals in. Saves $$ and means you don't have to get out of your suit to have a glass of wine and watch the sunset. Very family oriented resort.
Lunch at the outdoor grill was decent and not overpriced. Breakfast there is an expensive buffet and nothing to get excited about. Go to Roy's (across the street at the golf course) for a nice upscale fish (try the ahi) lunch or dinner.
I cannot say enough good things about the lagoons. Lagoon #3 is about 200 yards from the lobby with beautiful, clean white sand - rent the water hammock. It's $10 an hour and tons of funs to jump on, hang out on in the lagoon. Two pools and four hot tubs open so far, all are great. Bigger pool with slide is due to open in the next year or two.
Construction to the north and the south was not fun to look at from out balcony but oh well.
Took a drive up to North Shore had divine shrimp lunch at world famous Giovanni's. Garlic shrimp are worth the trip.
Friends stayed at the JW down the road and were quite pleased but it was a different experience from the Beach Club. Smallish pool for size of resort but did have cool hammer head shark and sting ray pond. More geared for couples. Couple of decent upscale restaurants. Small rooms but big bathrooms.
Night life is zilch here except for Paradise Cove Luau - not bad if your heart is set on a luau.
We're every other year owners and plan to go back in two years. I don't loooooove Oahu (Wakiki is not our style) but the Ko Olina is fabulous for families.
