We stayed at MVC Ko Olina BC resort by using our MVC destination points, staying a total of seven days, including Christmas day. Our Family really enjoyed the beautifully landscaped pools and the calm blue waters of the four lagoons. There was never a struggle to find pool chairs or towels. My son thought the waterfall pools were the most fun pools he's ever swam in. The resort staff really embodied the "Aloha" Spirit and were always willing to help. I particularly appreciated Nathan's friendliness at the front desk. He made sure we had a very nice suite. Of course the sunsets we saw from our balcony were stunningly beautiful. The 2 bedroom suites have well equipped kitchens and each tower has a gas grilling area outside for easy cooking.

Room Tip: Call one week out from your travel date, talk to room control and ask for a high floor facing the oc...

This is the second time I've stayed at this property, each time for 8 to 10 days at Thanksgiving time, and on each occasion I've had not but a wonderful and relaxing time. The property is divided into three hotels and there are three pool areas. Yes, there are many families which go as this is a time share but on each occasion there was nothing associated with screaming kids whatsoever that made our adventure sour. In fact, most of the kids were well behaved and polite (imagine that?). We were in the third building (closest to the Marina) and on the 12th floor. The room facilities were clean and well furnished. We stopped at the local Costco to stock up on food and utilized the kitchen and bbq (on the premises) for our cooking. We did go out to the local Roys for Thanksgiving dinner and a couple of other places but for the most part stayed on the property.
There is a well equipped fitness room on the premises as well as in our building. Plus, there's a wonderful walkway that goes from the ocean front of the property to the Marina on one side and to the other Marriott property on the other. Its about a 2 mile walk. We did the walk every morning and sometimes at sunset.
The Beach Club has cabanas to rent and we did that on a couple of occasions. The man made lagoon is a great asset to this property. The water during our time was cool upon entry but warmed up once you were in it.
During our stay, we noticed the population of the property increase at Thanksgiving and then really decrease right after. The staff are absolutely wonderful, courteous, and very polite. If there is one complaint, it is the parking. In my opinion, the spaces are too narrow. And that's about it. Wonderful and relaxing place. You will enjoy it.

Room Tip: The third building and high up for wonderful views.

We have 6 kids aged 3-17, so a kid friendly vacation is definitely important to us. We stayed here in a stopover from travelling back to the mainland US from New Zealand. We stayed here for three nights, and really just wanted peace and quiet. It was perfect! The kids loved the pools and the lagoon so much, we were in the water all day. They have a small reef on either side of the lagoon, and this was good for some beginning snorkeling. If it were just my husband and I we would have been bored, but it was a perfect place to introduce the kids to snorkeling and they had a really good time looking at the fish. We even saw a few sea turtles! We had a two bedroom condo, and it was spacious and well set up. The first day we took the shuttle to a nearby grocery store and got food for breakfast and lunch, and then ate locally for dinner. One warning, though, everything shuts down by 10 pm, so if you're hoping to have a quick adult time after the kids are in bed you are under a time crunch. But we really appreciated that there weren't hoards of drunk people in the hot tub late at night. Overall it was a very peaceful but engaging vacation. We were on the 4th floor so we had some palm trees obstruct our view, but we didn't mind too much. We did several of the activities that the hotel offered, including the Tahitian dance lessons and the mermaid activity, and the kids loved these.

Room Tip: Higher the better for views. the two bedroom condos are very spacious, we had two parents and six k...

Just returned from a 50th wedding anniversary trip for my in-laws over New Years. There were 15 of our family staying at the Beach Club. We had two two bedroom units and a 3 bedroom unit. All were decorated tastefully, but starting to show some fade. The buildings, grounds and restaurants are all very nice and high quality. The staff was excellent and friendly. The beaches are man made lagoons open to the ocean. They were nice to use and great for kids, but if you want the real surf, it may not be for you. The Ko Olina area is very nice and somewhat quiet. Only complaint is limited restaurants outside of the hotels. Target and Costco are 8 minutes away by car. Longboards restaurant in hotel is great and has really good burgers. Fantastic fireworks display at Ko Olina for New Years.

Room Tip: Most all ocean view rooms have dramatic views and the resort is 3 buildings that are all spread out...

My husband and I took our 3 children (ages 10, 8 and 6) Oahu is the perfect Hawaiian island to introduce children to because there is so much to do. We didn't want to stay in the middle of Honolulu because of the "big city" atmosphere. This was the perfect solution. The beaches at the resort were in lagoons so you didn't have to worry about large waves so the kids could play. The walkway along the beach was great for my husbands morning run and for the kids to explore the ocean life. Our room was awesome! Two bedrooms and large living spaces. We cooked almost all of our meals so we could save on money (didn't have to waste money on expensive food my children wouldn't eat) The pools were great and they even had a waterslide! The swimming mermaid was an added bonus for my youngest daughter. She slept with her photo every night.

Room Tip: If you have children ask for the newest tower because that is the one closest to the beach and pool...

We are here over New Year 2014. What a way to start the year. I am an MVCI owner, have stayed on all the islands and I can say this property is wonderful. The Aloha spirit reigns here. The first day one of the wait staff was so friendly. On day 2 she knew me by name. We are now great friends and enjoy a brief chat every day. The complex is so open, yet quiet areas are easy to find. Plenty of beach chairs, and the pool areas provide room to move around to chase the sun or shade. Breakfast buffet at Longboards great, lunch too. Shaved ices at the towel for fun, too. The villa was beautiful. Marriott has the equation for a wonderful experience.

We just got back from our holiday vacation at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club. This was our first time staying here (as a guest, not a timeshare owner), although we are very familiar with Oahu and Ko Olina.

First off, if you want the hustle & bustle of a 'city', this is not the place for you. However, if you really want a 'getaway' and a much quieter pace, this is for you. This was definitely our place!

Check-in was very easy - the lobby was decorated with a gorgeous tree and each and every employee we encountered from our arrival was pleasant and always greeted us...yes, every one. Prior to our arrival, we were requested to stop at the 'aloha desk' for some info. We did that before we even went to our room, which is where you receive maps, info, etc. and the initial 'come on' for the beach club ownership. A 90 minute 'tour' of the property would give you an almost 50% discount on a whale watching/snorkeling excursion. It wasn't annoying, just letting you know their intentions; we were actually expecting it at some point on the trip.

Our room was a nice size, immaculately clean (first thing I check for when traveling are clean sheets and bathroom!) and well laid out.

As you enter the room, bathroom is immediately on your left, which was (expectedly) nicer than your average hotel room. Immediately to the right is a decent sized closet, then a kitchenette area with coffee maker, small fridge, small sink, microwave, place settings & glasses/mugs for 2 people, paper towels, sponge, dishtowels, starter coffee/tea kit, detergent for both dishes & washer/dryer. Note that the washer/dryer, which was on our floor (10), was clean, and free! Not knowing if there was a fee, I brought my own soap pods/softener. Otherwise, you can purchase in the laundry room for $1.00 each. (guessing if you're an 'owner' you would not have the starter kit in your room?)

The room then opens up to a large tv (in a cabinet) nice sized couch (which was a king pull-out), then king bed. Husband was disappointed, as there was no place to sit down and work on a computer in the room. (In the lobby area there were 5 computers to use, although husband needed his laptop.) The room was well decorated and in good condition. Beyond that was your lanai which was kind of tight, for 2 (slim) people. It had a small round table and 2 chairs, which we had to navigate in between, or around, once we went out from the sliding doors. As I said, kinda tight. Our view was of the marina, which behind that, was a port. Didn't see too much action at the port during our stay.

Husband used the fitness center several times, which was complimentary, as well as wi-fi in the room. An added bonus for us, as other high-end hotels charge for use of the fitness center, wi-fi, etc., and after a while, it's just ridiculous.

The grounds are kept very clean and well lit. There is a store on the first floor where you can get coffee, drinks, etc., but the selection and prices are much better at the ABC store. As you would expect, restaurants are pricey there. $48 for lunch (Longboards), to me, was ridiculous. Breakfast buffet (Longboards) was $20 per person, which to me was a bit much, however, the assortment of food was nice. We did not visit Chucks. We went to Longboard's a few times (breakfast & lunch). Do not miss their garlic fries - the best I've ever had!

We were trying to be somewhat cost conscious on this trip, so we visited the Marketplace (off site) just about every day. It's an ABC store, and you can accomplish many things here, i.e., fresh fruit, breakfast foods, sandwiches/wraps/fried chicken/salads for lunch/dinner, sundries and t-shirts & souvenirs at a reasonable price. Knowing how pricey Hawaii in general is, we were not going to have a $40 breakfast every morning, or $48 lunch every day. We treated ourselves to dinner at Monkeypod, Pizza Corner, Just Tacos and Longboards (on-site).

We did not rent a car. Again, being cost conscious and having seen this island many times, we also saved on the $30+ nightly car parking fee. The only time we left the property, other than to go to the Marketplace, was when we went on an excusion, which left from the Ko Olina Marina. It was well worth it.

The beach area was kept clean and every morning, the beach was smooth (like a zamboni smoothing out the sand).

The (free) shuttle to/from the other hotels in the area was handy, especially going to dinner and/or ABC store. Although it did not go directly to the stores/restaurants, we would either walk to the Aulani or Ihiliani after shopping or dining, and catch the shuttle from there back to the Marriott.

There was a phone message our last full day in Ko Olina with another 'come on' - if we booked on site (before we left the next day), there was a 6 day 5 night resort stay for a 1 bedroom suite for $699 for us to use in the next 18 months at that location. We did not follow-up.

Overall, although this place was expensive, it was a true vacation. Went to the beach every morning, and enjoyed every minute of it. We did not spend time at any of the pools or hot tubs.

Thanks Marriott for making it as relaxing as we had hoped!
