This property is on the other side of the island from Waikiki beach, it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city. The property is expertly maintained and the staff is friendly and helpful. You are right on the beach with good snorkeling nearby. The sunsets are magnificent and the FIA FIA luau was really fun and entertaining. Everything was clean and you felt very safe. The concierge was very helpful and took the time to answer all your questions with a smile.

Room Tip: OCEAN VIEW the higher up the better!!!

The first thing you have to understand about this property is that it’s a Vacation Club, not a hotel. So if you’re not an owner, if you love full-service hotels, or if you’ve never stayed at one of these properties, you may have some issues.

First let’s start with the property itself. I think that by far, this is one of the nicest properties in Ko Olina. The grounds are lush and well kept, there are plenty of barbeque areas, and it has great beach access, nice restaurants, and a shop that sells decent food and Starbucks drinks. The staff is extremely welcoming and the vibe is very low key and relaxing.

My main issue with Marriott vacation club properties is the feeling that I’m treated differently if I’m not an owner. The room was the main issue with this. My wife and I booked, through Hawaiian Airlines Vacations, a King Suite with a full ocean view. What we got was a third-story room with a view of the noisy pool. As anybody would, we went back to the front desk and asked for a different room. This request, if you are not an owner, is near impossible. The manager stated that if you are not an owner, they are unable to put you in a room above the fourth floor. She also explained that even if your view of the ocean is an inch wide, you received an ocean view room. Sorry, but that didn’t fly with us so we insisted that we get an actual ocean view on a higher level. It took nearly three hours of work, but the manager finally gave us a room on the tenth floor that only had a partial ocean view, but a full view of the harbor next door, we took it. All in all, the manager accommodated us which we were extremely grateful for, but just beware that you may be in for a battle if you don’t own a timeshare here.

Once we finally got our room, we were able to relax and enjoy the property and the island. The room was great, and we had no issues. I’d recommend staying here if you want the nice grounds and pool but if you want a full-service hotel stay at the JW Marriott up the road. Hint: the JW has a full Starbucks and sits on the best lagoon. You can also rent cabanas, get drinks, food, etc. and charge it to your room at the Vacation Club.

If you’re visiting Oahu for the first time and want that authentic Hawaiian vacation, my recommendation is to come to the Ko Olina area and stay away from Waikiki. Go there to visit for the day, it’s only about a 30 minute drive, but it’s really crowded and busy down there. Ko Olina has great swimming lagoons, amazing restaurants, and a really nice walking path; you won’t be disappointed!

Room Tip: If you're not an "owner" you will not be given a room above the 4th floor so beware! It is however possible to get moved up, but it's really difficult...

Stayed 7 nights here and found hotel well maintained. Great valet service if you chose to use it.
The grounds are very well kept - the onsite pools are nice as well especially one pool is roped off from I believe 6-10am for lap swimming.
Food is not cheap here but where is food cheap in Hawaii.
We stayed in a 2 bed suite with 2 Lanais, great breeze at night and extremely pleasant to sit outside to relax.
Full kitchen with dishwasher and in suite washer/ dryer - so convenient.
I would definitely recommend this resort

This place started with good impression when we drove into the area. the view is pretty and the lobby is nicely designed, you can see and hear the ocean while check in. we reserved the room with points and the front desk was nice enough to move us from "ground" floor to a upper floor. We had a partial ocean view 2b2b condo with everything you need for a vacation in there. costco and other shopping places are not to far away, so that we can take a break from restaurant food.

This place is perfect for kids and relax, not so good for business or shopping.

This was our second trip to Hawaii and by far the best! Marriott is first class all the way. This end of the island is very relaxed, unlike Waikiki, there is not a lot of city hustle and bustle. For us it was perfect, our son proposed to his girlfriend there at sunset and it was beautiful. I think my son would have preferred the busier end of the island but not us. The luau is top notch and not over crowded. We took the shark adventure which is a lot of scary fun and the snorkel dolphin cruise with Hawaii Nautical, they were the absolute best! if you are renting a car which to us is a must, DO NOT USE THRIFTY! Use one of the larger companies like Alamo, they took over and hour and a half to get us our car that we had reserved a month in advance, they are to small to accommodate and they are incredibly hard to locate when you return the car because they are not marked at any of the car rental returns because I believe they are off of airport grounds.
