My family and I checked out this morning. We were all sad to leave, this is such an amazing resort. This resort is about 30 minutes outside of Honolulu, and 45 minutes from Waikiki. So if you are planing to mainly so activities in those areas I would not suggest staying here as rush hour is pretty much 5a-9a, and 4p-7p every weekday. We planned two trips into Honolulu/Waikiki during our 7 day stay and that was plenty.

This location has everything you could want: you can go snorkeling in the lagoons, take a cruise from the harbor, play golf if you want, there is a village also right outside the gate where you can purchase food to cook if you prefer. The staff were all attentive and nice, the food at the restaurants was expensive- this is par for the course at almost any hotel I have ever stayed at, you can always go elsewhere off site if you prefer.

I do recommend renting a car for your stay. This spot is remote from most touristy activities (Waikiki, Honolulu, popular beaches, and most souvenir shops) and you'll end up paying more for cabs than if you had just rented a vehicle for yourself.

I'd like to take a moment and address a consistent negative review I've read on here about this location because it almost impacted my decision whether or not to stay here: a bad view from the balcony- who cares? Seriously, you are in Hawaii. Either pay the more expensive fee and get the ocean view or don't complain about a parking garage or what have you....how much time are you spending on your balcony during your vacation? Maybe have a cup of coffee in the morning or a drink at night? Who cares that you overlook a parking garage- dude, you're in hawaii- relax.

This resort is an incredible place to relax and not be surrounded by the chaos of Honolulu and Waikiki. The three towers all have their own BBQ areas and there is plenty of options for relaxing. Multiple pools and steps from the ocean with their own lagoon will give you days of peace and quiet. Food on the resort was not great, but we had a kitchen and shopped at Costco and Safeway, which were only 10 minutes away by car. We went to the Tuesday Luau, Fia Fia, and it was pretty awesome. Well worth the price of the show! The two bedroom owners suite we had was very spacious for any family of 6. The downside to our trip was that we were put on the 3rd floor of the Naia Tower (the newest and closest to the ocean), and when we opened our curtains we stared directly into the parkade. Why a high end resort would have rooms that look at a parkade is beyond me! After 2 days we were moved to the 8th floor of another tower and we were then able to sit on the balcony and enjoy the view and eat outside. The staff were incredibly friendly and did work to help us to find us a better room, but we were disappointed that it took two days out of our six day trip. The lagoon is a really great place to swim, even if you are a beginner. I learned to snorkel there, which was great because of the calm water. There are paved walking paths that lead to the next couple resorts and they also have lagoons that you could swim or snorkel in. The Ko Olina Golf Course is across the street and it hosts an annual LPGA tournament. This is a high end resort well worth the stay. Expensive, but you do get value out of what you pay for. Most people we ran in to were Marriott vacation owners. Owners do not pay extra for parking, so keep that in mind if you did not get a suite from an owner. We would recommend the Marriott to anyone, as long as you don't get a parkade view! Ask for a higher floor....even the fourth floor would be better.

Room Tip: The Naia Tower is the newest and closest to the beach. When we moved to farthest tower, we didn'...

What a great spot and hotel! My wife and I love going to Hawaii and decided to try the Marriott Ko Olina Beach Club on the west end of Oahu. We've been to Oahu and Maui many times, Kona and Kauai. The location of Ko Olina was like being in Maui with beautiful relaxing ocean views and but with the convenience of Waikiki, Pearl Harbor, Diamond Head (if you want it) nearby as well as the rest of the island. We had a great ocean view one bedroom unit that was awesome! We used the outdoor grills and took advantage of the kitchen in the unit. Grocery stores and shops nearby. The grounds are well kept and the staff went out of their way to make sure you were comfortable. Excellent golf nearby, other recreation or just relaxing by the pool. The hotel was near capacity but it never felt crowded. Great spot for families with kids to either swim in the kids pool (water slides etc.) or the nice sheltered lagoon with crystal clear warm water. We are planning our next trip back to this property already with friends. We Loved it!

We visited this resort as part of a time share exchange. It can be difficult to find accommodation in Hawaii as it is so popular - with folks from United States, Asia and Australia.
The resort sits within a resort area with four man-made lagoons. These were pleasant to swim in and safe for children. The resorts all have wonderful pools and there is always some activity on the property to keep one amused. The staff are extremely helpful and very happy to help you book any activity you may like to do.
We would recommend this for a relaxing holiday but recommend at least a one-bedroom with full kitchen as the two restaurants on site are expensive with one (Chucks) open only for dinner and Longboards open all meals but you cannot book reservations.
You may like to check out the other eateries in the village centre as well as the ABC store for some cheaper food with more variety than the resort store.
There is also major shopping close by for all your supplies.
You are best to hire a car for your stay as the taxi will cost AUD$80 from the airport, or speedi shuttle is about AUD$18 pp.

Room Tip: We had a studio room for the three of us. Is it very generous in size, easily accomodating us but th...

We stayed in one bedroom suite. It has large space: kids slept on sofa bed and adults slept in the bedroom. Kitchen has everything including rice cooker. Bathroom has a shower, a tub, and two separate sinks. It is not a great place if you are looking for night life or fancy dinner-out. Kids loved eating in the room. They offer shuttle to nearby Target, Costco, etc. You can cook all your meals if you want. Lagoon is man-made which is kinda safer for small kids. I did snorkeling and saw sea turtle swimming in the Lagoon. Pools are great as well. You can walk or take shuttle to near JW Marriott for different atmosphere. We loved the place. Staffs were friendly and nice. Try to get ocean view with extra. Totally worth. No need to go anyway for sunset 'cuz you gonna have a perfect sunset.

My husband and I are Marriott Vacation Club owners, and we are always pleased with our two bedroom. This is our first time at the Marriott's Ko Olina Beach Club, and it was a lovely place! The facility was clean and well kept. Luckily, our room was at the newest wing, so we were near the pool and beach! Our room had a great view of the ocean and marina - sweet!

The staff was great and accommodating. The lagoons were perfect for all – kids, adults, swimmers and non swimmers. My only complaint was the false advertisement of water activities. I wanted to canoe and paddle surf; however, the rental place was far – not convenient at all. Bummer. The massage was good, but expensive. The reason why we were able to get massages was after a painstaking two hour presentation. Oh well, it comes with the territory I guess.

Tips for shopping

Target, Costo and Kmart are an exit away, so it was convenient to shop for food and other essential things. If you forget sun block or toothpaste, you're a hop, skip and a jump away!

As far as souvenirs and goodies go, ABC store is great! Costco and Target are perfect for macadamia nuts and chocolates. Pineapples is the place to go for clothing. The mall is good too. Hilo Hattie’s is a scam - the Hawaiian clothes are very expensive and the materials are not good.

Restaurants

Longboards was a pretty good place; it was convenient, but pricey. I live in NYC, so no desire to try the in house steak restaurant.

Near the resort is Monkekpod, highly recommended. Great food and ambiance. In the same complex is the Hawaiian BBQ - pretty good, too. You can drive or walk to this place.

The Ama Ama at Disney Resort was delicious! Pricey, but good food and perfect for kids and adults. It's a nice stroll from Marriott Beach Club.

If you like Korean food at a low cost, Ramen Ya is the place to go. Ramen Ya is located at the Target complex.

Denny's was close for something reasonable and expected . Zippy's is a good try if you want the typical Hawaiian lunch place, which includes a main dish, rice and macaroni salad.

Driving to places

All in all our vacation was amazing! My husband and I drove everywhere. The drive to Waikiki is not bad. Make sure to use the HOV lane, so you’re not stuck in the rush hour traffic. Make sure to visit the east and north coasts. Breathtaking views!

Snorkeling

Hanauma Bay was fun, so it's a must stop for visitors. We also snorkeled with dolphins in the ocean, check out my review of SailHawaii.com - they are awesome!

Luau

Chief's Luau is a must, too! My review of this place will be posted shortly. Same for the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Have fun on your trip!

We had a 1 bedroom suite with a kitchen. Beautiful room and with everything you need to cook for the family. The room is a great place for children. Lots of space for 3 children and 2 adults. The bathroom as huge with a separate bathtub. We want to stay their again.
