The resort was beautiful, would have given it 5 stars but 80% of the pool was in the shade the entire day. (our visit was in Dec). The lagoon was spectacular and each evening there was something to do for the family on the premises. One night they showed a kids movie outside under the stars, next night there was a Polynesian show etc.. if you’re going to relax, this is the place. The rooms were spacious and clean with free coffee, the parking is $30 per day so if you’re renting a car, add that to your budget.

The gift store’s prices might seem high but when we drove into town to pick up a few things we found out that the prices are high everywhere. Box of cereal ($8)

Room Tip: rooms on the 5th floor will have an obstructed view by the palm trees. They are still very nice.

I recently got 4 rooms here, a one bedroom villa for my wife and I, and three standard guest rooms for my extended family that we flew out to meet us since we are living overseas.

We stayed for two weeks and enjoyed every minute of it.

We didn't stay using any of the gimmicky time share presentation special rates, so we got zero pressure at all from sales folks. Never even an invitation or anything, which is one thing we were worried about reading some of the reviews here.

We didn't eat at the restaurants much during the two weeks, but tried both Chucks and Longboards a few times and were satisfied, but not amazed. Just standard mid level food options.

The 1 bedroom room was fantastic and we used it as kind of a central meeting area sharing meals etc because of the full kitchen. We also made use several times of the BBQs, which not only were great for cooking, but great for socializing with other guests as we had a beer and cooked side by side.

One unfortunate thing for us is that somehow we neglected to discover the pool with the caves and slides until 5 days into our trip. After that we went every single time to this pool, as the kids loved it, and it was close to the pool bar for us grown ups.

Some people have talked about the inflexibility and no late checkout, but they were very accommodating and helped us out with many requests we had (this might only be because I booked four rooms though, so who knows), but my parents early and booked their own room for a few days, and when they switched to the room I had reserved, they were not required to check out at the normal time and the staff moved all of their stuff for them to the new room.

We took time to snorkel in the lagoons, and while not the best I've ever seen, there are fish to be seen and we even spotted a turtle one day. Not Hanuama bay, but good still.

The sunsets here are perfect given the west coast location, they are right there on par with my favorite sunset location in Bali, even though almost every night there was a distant thunderstorm that obscured just the tiniest part of the horizon where the sun set was obscured, almost like nature being a smart aleck. :-) Not that that really has anything to do with the hotel.

We also were happy to find the close proximity of Paradise Cove Luau which was a great evening, even though quite spendy, it's worth it.

I also booked a Scuba diving trip through the activities desk and it was a painless and seamless process. Charged to the room and picked up at the front door. No worries and no stress.

Lastly, anyone who has ever been to Bali understands the true concept of customer service and hospitality as a culture rather than an act. The management at this property should be proud that I found many employees there in all departments who exhibited friendliness and warm smiles on par with the famous hospitality of Bali.

The Bad?
-For a young couple with no kids, this place will not offer a vibrant social scene. This is a mix of families and oldies it seemed.
-The pool bar closes a little too early
-The parking, like most of Hawaii, is a ripoff, unfortunately for the valets I think they lose lots of tips with 30$/day parking cost
-You need a car here, no question, if you want to see anything else, but I didn't mind that, as we don't really get to drive anywhere at home right now, so it was fun for us.

I really enjoyed the Ko Olina resort. It was my first time a Marriott vacation club and enjoyed the amenities and the location. THere are many pools, jacuzzis and loved the lagoon beach for the family. I would highly recommend this place.

Loved that they have a daily schedule of activities you can do during the day. They are not only for children either. It ranges from water balloon toss, giant bubble making to bingo, fish feeding, hula lessons. Great pools! 2 family style pools & 1 quiet pool if u don't have children. 1 of the family pools is a beach pool, so they have sand on the outside & on the bottom of the pool. They had a movie @ night on the lawn if you wanted to watch that. They had "Mermaid Kariel" come out & swim with the children & tell a story. The only down fall is that their is only 2 Restraunts, & they are expensive! They have a little store also that you can buy food, but it's also very expensive. But the hotel is deffinatley worth it! We live on the island & we will deffinatley stay here again!

This property and it's sister locations offer just about anything you could want including a fabulous golf course across the street. The beachfront is absolutely beautiful and offers a couple mile round trip walking/jogging trail. Shuttles run between the various locations to make moving from one to another easy. After three days on Waikiki the solitude was heavenly. I might have been bored though, if we had not first stayed in Waikiki.

This is actually a time share (we stayed five nights as a "hotel" guest) so even the smaller rooms offer a fridge, micro, sink, coffee maker as well as cups, plates, etc. The rooms are not very big but they are well laid out, clean and tastefully decorated. Since this is set up as a time share be prepared for lots of families.

The area restaurant dining choices are somewhat limited and expensive. We took advantage of the fridge and microwave so at least breakfast and snacks were in the room. Multiple-day golf packages are available directly through the pro shop and by using their package you will also save a lot on club rental rates (if needed).

This was our first time at a vacation club and we expected some form of hard selling. We didn't get it although they do try to make you attend a 90 minute presentation and offer incentives to attend.
We had the cheapest room (ours was called a one bedroomed 'villa'..... but it was a room) and it was perfectly adequate for our needs.
We had a view of the car park so we checked the cost of a sea view, it was an additional $100 per night but felt we'd spent enough already on our vacation (we are taking a year off to travel).
Although we did the sights of the Island we did spend a couple of days by the hotel pool and it was very relaxing. The landscaping of the area is beautiful with fishponds and shady areas. There are a number of beautifully shaped pools (not your retangular concrete) with one being a 'quiet' pool. There were very few children in the resort during our visit so all pools were quiet.
The pool area is lit up at nights, the palm trees are lit up too and wogga-wogga lamps line the paths. It is very pretty.
The 'beach' is man-made and protected from the ocean by rocks about 50 yards out and is great for kids. This is 2 weeks before Xmas and we suspect that next week it will be full of kids
The big gripes from us is that you have to add an additional $30 per night to the room rate to pay for parking. Both self park and valet are the same price!
Also there is very little to do in the evening and the resort closes down very, very early. There is live entertainment in one of the bars but this stops at 8.30 and the last bar starts to shut down at 9.00pm even though last orders are 10pm. You can go out but you'll need your car.
Staff are very friendly especally the concierge staff around the pool.

Room Tip: Try and avoid the low floors especially facing the 'mountains' as they are really facing the...

My sister and I stayed at this hotel for two nights. It was so nice, that we tried to stay longer but they didn't have any available rooms. The entire property is extremely nice. There are various swimming pools that are available. One is strictly for adults. It was very quiet and relaxing. They also have a couple pools for adults and children. The bar looks over the beach and I especially enjoyed the close access to the water.
