Took the 9am Snorkel-Dolphin cruise with family of 4 (parents, 10YO boy, and 5YO girl.) This was the highlight(s) of our 1 week trip to Ko Olina. Trip involved a ½ hour shuttle from the resort to the Waianae marina. A few minutes out we pulled up to a few other boats and saw the spinner dolphins jumping and spinning, as advertised. The crew gave all the interesting details about these beautiful creatures.
Next, we proceeded to a nearby reef to snorkel with the fish and sea turtles. The crew swam with us and kept a watchful eye over our little snorkler. The bar was good with pretty much all the drinks you wanted ($1 for extras).
We did have an issue with a late shuttle for our group and Captain Mosh asked if we wanted to stay for the afternoon cruise, or just enjoy ourselves on the deck with a personal happy hour till the shuttle arrived. We chose the latter, and were also given a return trip due to the delay in the shuttle. (Frankly, we had more fun lounging on deck with another group than we would have at our resort pool, but the re-ride pass was greatly appreciated and shows that this company takes care of you.)
We returned two days later for free to another fun crew (Captain Jacob and ladies), and had another great day (hence the highlights).
A few tips, comments:
1. You will get about 45min-1hr to snorkel. (Most passengers are out of the water eating lunch in under ½ hour.)
2. Winds in the morning are not really favorable to a real sail, but the boat ride is fun nevertheless.
3. Not top-shelf liquor, but good drinks nonetheless. Factor in 2-3-4 drinks, continental breakfast, and pulled pork/sandwich lunch, this would cost over $50 at any Ko Olina resort. If you don’t drink, there may be less value for you.
4. Don’t go if you’re offended by young ladies (crew) in small bikinis, who can swim down 10-15 feet to bring up urchins, and hoist a main sail.
