I booked this accommodation to have a nice break from Waikiki and to explore Oahu. The approach to the resort is pretty scruffy but you can't fault paradise bay itself on first impressions. It has great view of the bay from my room and the breakfast area. The negatives are my room was very dark and the hotel mentions it is an 'Eco hotel'. This is a cop out which means they don't change the bedding daily and dont provide fresh towels and no one removed bins etc. This is very basic and not what you expect for a usd 450 a night room. There was no headboard on the bed so pillows would drop behind the bed. Small touches that in this day and age is expected for this pricing level. The location is remote so you do need to eat in other towns and the resort itself does not provide a restaurant service.

There are so many things that made my time at Paradise Bay time spent like no other. On Friday evenings starting with an intimate happy hour with live music, then to move on to the Manta Ray watch meeting new friends while cruising Kaneohe Bay. We then returned to the resort for more music accompanied by a single Hula Dancer...then to finish it off, we had an authenticSamoan Chief perform a fire knife dance for us. This was just the beginning. The rooms are beautiful, many as close to the ocean as you can get anywhere. My friends and family took another cruise out to the sandbar from the resort. Then spent the afternoon between the pool, the Stand up Paddle Boards and the Kayaks. It was a great place to connect with old friends, meet new ones and spend time with my family. I am looking forward to my return to my time at "Paradise".

I am pleased to say that all that construction effort and resource was very well spent. Paradise Bay Resort is beautiful now. We originally stayed at PBR shortly after it changed from Schraders and was under construction in December of 2010. It was not good. It was like a Chevy Chase Vacation movie gone wrong. The construction/remodel/updating was SO VERY NEEDED.We recently returned to PBR for what was to be one night only on short notice before our long term stay at the Hilton in Waikiki opened up. After arriving at the newly renovated apartment-like bungalow, we cancelled our Waikiki reservations (with worth while financial penalty) to stay for 18 days at PBR.
The remodel is simply excellent. The staff is warm and sincerely friendly and accomodating. The attention to detail rivals that of 5 star accomodations in town. The new furnishings are tastefully selected and the beds are truly, truly comfortable. The feeling is professional but laid back at the same time.
The added bonus of a Friday night pupus (pizza, finger foods) and drink gathering along with a local fire show is great. The constant availability of SUP boards and sea kayaks is something you won't find elsewhere, add that to free parking, wi-fi, and included breakfast, and you can't beat PBR for its value.
The views of the Ko'olau mountains and Chinamen's Hat over the bay are astounding. We are biased, as we live on the Windward side of Oahu and believe its the best place to be, {(long term travel to the mainland later this summer is what caused us to rent our house out) however, anyone visiting Oahu should do a couple nights in Waikiki to get the experience as it is fun there too,} but for a laid back but beautiful time, with extreme value, PBR is the way to go.
Drawbacks: some mainlanders perceive the somewhat sketchy neighborhood as a drawback. No, you cannot stroll to countless restaurants and bars like you can in Waikiki, but the neighborhood is typical friendly local flavor complete with an abundance of loose chickens and cats. The location is not Waikiki, but you are close to great attractions like Kualoa Ranch, the Macademia Nut Farm Tour, Chinamen's Hat Beach Park among others. The Crouching Lion Restaurant right up the road is also a great out of the ordinary place to dine, and you are close to Kailua and Lanikai Beaches, consistently ranked among the top beaches in the world. Use PBR as your base, enjoy the beautiful pool, the bay etc, and then venture out into the windward side, hit the beaches/attractions mentioned above, (great restaurants like Halewa Joes Haiku in Kaneohe and Zia's in Kaneohe and Kailua, as well as many great restaurants/watering holes in Kailua) then push on to Bellows Beach, then Makapu'u light house trail and then Sea Life Park. Hit Waikiki when you want to return to hustle and bustle.
Paradise Beach Resort and Spa has resurrected itself into a truly wonderful place to stay, to relax and have time with family. Stay here before the secret truly gets out..

Room Tip: There are some units that are large, like unit 40,(2br apartment) but dont have a view, so they are...

I've stayed at the Paradise Bay Resort twice so far, and it has become my go-to place every time I'm on Oahu for business. The rooms are spacious and apartment-like; a real home-away-from-from-home feel. Situated at the end of a residential road, the resort is unobtrusively hidden between the surrounding homes. The rooms are laid out in unique floor patterns and several have more than on lanai with views of the Kaneohe bay that are embarrassingly gorgeous, especially for the price.

Room Tip: If available, suite 32 is stunning.

Staying at Paradise Bay was nothing short of amazing. It is tucked away in beautiful Kaneohe far away from the touristy crowds of Waikiki. They accomodate fun activities for you including stand up paddleboarding and kayaking. They throw parties with live music, fire dancers, and free food! The rooms are beautiful, especially the rooms with the view of Kaneohe bay. Having the view of the bay is a refreshing change :) They've remodeled from the ground up and it is absolutely beautiful. I highly recommend staying here no matter what experience you would like to get from your visit to O'ahu.

Room Tip: Bay view rooms!

My recent stay was memorable in a good way. The view of Kaneohe Bay and the Koolau mountains is fantastic, something you'd only find on a neighbor island. The Balinese/Hawaiian style architecture is very pleasing. Rooms are spacious, superclean, and modern. The staff made me feel like family.

As an added bonus, Friday night has free entertainment and appetizers. The guitarist/vocalist sang all our favorites. Then, the best fire dancer I've ever seen performed and put on a whole show for over an hour. He then hung out and answered all of our questions about Hawaii and the local culture.

On Saturday we cruised on their partyboat to the Kaneohe sandbar which has always been on my bucket list. My daughter tried her hand at standup paddleboarding, while the wife and I used the Kayaks to explore the nearby fishponds.

This was a 5 star experience unmatched by any other resort on Oahu. I highly recommend it.

We are delighted to learn you enjoyed your time with us!

Paradise Bay Resort is located on a special side of the Koolau Mountain range. Its ridges are so pronounced and much to be enjoyed on a rainy day as well with so many cascading waterfalls. Our views are spectacular.

The sealife surrounding the resort offers frequent pleasant visits from turtles and numerous varieties of fish. Always a highlight for everyone on our Saturday Boat cruise. Glad you were able to try SUP'ing (Stand up paddling) and enjoyed the kayaks!

Happy to know, the Paradise Bay Resort Team made you all feel like family. In our eyes, "You are considered Ohana (family)".

Our mission, "Five star service, Hawaiian style".

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Aloha

We stayed here for three nights and wished we had booked our entire stay in Oahu here. We had a two bedroom suite which had a full kitchen and was very clean! All the employees were very friendly and accommodating! The facility and grounds are very nicely maintained. We loved how it was set down under and had the floating docks.
The best was using the facilities kayaks and snorkeling equipment to go out to the reefs, go early in the morning right at 8 am and you will see many sea turtles!!! It was the highlight of our trip!
Thank you!

Aloha! We are very excited to announce the completion of our room and property renovations. We will continue to enhance the property as other resorts do, however the bulk of work is complete. We appreciate all of the input we received both positive and negative and we have used it to get to the point we are today. We were recently awarded the 2014 TripAdvisor Award of Excellence. We are blessed to be part of what we all consider to be the most beautiful tropical setting in the Hawaiian Islands. Now the property, accommodations and warm staff complement our surroundings. We call ourselves True Hawaii and what does that mean? Our setting reveals the answer. We are located in a panorama of spectacular natural and tropical beauty, from amazing Hawaiian mountain ranges and lush tropical landscape, to beautiful Kaneohe Bay, Chinaman's Hat Island and out to the Pacific Ocean. We border an ancient Hawaiian fishpond surrounded by lush tropical mangroves. The Kahuona Fishpond is one of the last remaining working fishponds and is designated a historical site. We are the only resort property with private access to Kaneohe Bay. Kaneohe Bay hosts the most abundant and diverse sea life and reef system in the Hawaiian Islands and our guests can access it safely right from the resort. Our design fits with the environment and has a contemporary and authentic Hawaiian look and feel. We thank our guests who have stayed with us in the past and helped to support us.
