“A Favorite on Oahu”
Reviewed April 3, 2014

This is one of my favorite places to spend time on Oahu. After living on Oahu for three years it remains a spot I love. There are beautiful gardens, a gorgeous Japanese temple, koi fish ponds, peacocks, and just a relaxing and beautiful view with the Koolau mountains behind.

“Breathtaking and Peaceful”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

We stopped at the Byodo-In Temple on a day tour of the island. That was our only mistake. Had we gone on our own, we would have stayed and enjoyed the serenity. As it were, we only had about 20 minutes but still worth the stop. It was just beautiful and one of the few places I regret not taking the time to get back to.

“Beautiful place”
Reviewed March 28, 2014

This is a short stop, but a beautiful, tranquil place on the windward coast of Oahu. It is also used in an episode of the first season of the original Hawaii 5-0 (Pray Love Remember, Pray Love Remember). It would have been just built when it was used as a Pacific Studies campus!

Known for its black swans and, apparently wild peacocks (we saw the swans, but no peacocks when we visited).

“A Peaceful Stop when going around the Island”
Reviewed March 23, 2014

On a day when we were taking the circle island tour around Oahu, Byode-in Temple was a welcome change from the numerous overlooks, points and parks, as beautiful as they were. Don't be turned off or surprised when you turn in at the entrance and find yourself entering Valley of the Temples, a large Memorial Gardens. Just follow their directions to the back of the gardens and you will come upon the beautiful Byode-in Temple, a replica of a Japanese Buddhist Temple. The setting is beautiful and the grounds pefect for a quiet stroll.

“A must-see for those who enjoy peace and serenity”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

A spectacular setting against the backdrop of the Koolau Mountains. The temple is not to be missed! The birds will eat from your hands and the koi in the ponds will swim onto each other to enjoy a taste of fish food. Parents and kids alike will love it. Just remember that it is a memorial, a sacred place for many.
