A beautiful and restful park not far from Honolulu. The grounds are lushly landscaped and there are waterfalls, peacocks, black swans, and ponds with Japaneses koi carp. The actual temple is a non-practicing Buddhist Temple which is a smaller replica of one in Uji, Japan.

My husband and I stopped on a whim and we are glad we did. Spent about 45 minutes looking around and very cheap entrance fee.

I always enjoy visiting this gorgeous temple when I am in the area. It was built to commerate the 100 year anniversary of Japanese immigrants to Hawaii and is a replica of a 950-year-old temple in Japan. There is a $3 entrance fee which I never mind paying to help keep this temple open. There is a koi pond that surrounds the temple. A few years ago many of the koi died but they seem to be increasing in number again. Wild peacocks and black swans reside here as well. The longer you stay, the more peaceful you feel.

The temple is impressive. The setting is delightful, many many good photo opts. Time your visit, early morning or as we did at lunch time to avoid the tour buses. Be sure to ring the bell, leave your donation and stroll the area. $3.00 per person entry fee.
