This place closes early (I believe four o'clock), but it's an interesting place to stop for food if you're driving up Kamehameha Highway the the north side of the island from the east. Because they were closing so early, all they had available at the time were sandwiches and burgers (no meals).

PROS:

- Super friendly staff in the food-service area. Everyone here greeted us with a smile! :)
- We both got hot dogs. They were very large, hot, and tasty.
- Convenient location right on the highway with ample parking.

CONS:

- Super-expensive. The hot dogs were $6 a piece. Even downtown Waikiki had much cheaper offerings.
- The place really didn't feel like a restaurant. It felt more like a gift shop with a food stand added in as an afterthought.
- The staff in the gift shop area made you feel like you were a criminal. They actually followed me around the store as I went to use the bathroom.
- Food service ends very early in the day.

OVERALL IMPRESSION:

Stop here for a quick bite if you're driving up the east coast and you just want something quick and easy. It will be pricey, but it will also get you on your way with a full stomach.

They did have a nice selection of souvenirs, however, their prices were very high, we didn't buy anything from them. If you are looking for nice island jewelry, you might go see what they have. I just wasn't in the market for $$ necklaces. Most of the souvenir type items we had found at the Saturday Flea market at the Aloha Stadium

Three of us stopped there for lunch and had 3 different dishes...huli huli chicken yummy. Want American - they've got that too. Didn't shop the gift shop.

Before going to the Macadamia Nut Farm, we hungrily arrived at this nearby restaurant and gift shop. I enjoyed the fresh mahi mahi lunch plate with rice, tartar sauce and side salad. My husband had the savory, Kiawe roasted Huli Huli half chicken, with the same side dishes as mine. I strongly recommend ordering these Hawaiian selections from the menu.

The meal portions were generous and the price was average, considering the area and convenient location. We felt full for the rest of the day. There is ample parking in their lot, in front of the building.

The ambiance was store-front-shop-meets-high-tea-restaurant. The restaurant’s ordering counter looks like a cute, little Tiki hut. There are glass walls on three sides of the dining room, the chairs are red and the tables are covered with pink cloths. A small vase of live red carnations adorns each table as a center piece. Yet, the food comes on foam plates and plastic trays.

The gift shop items tend to be on the expensive side, particularly the jewelry, which is a large section of the store. Other items to buy include shells, post cards, moo moos and other merchandise catering to tourists.
