“Don't miss this secluded beach”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2007

Not the easiest beach to find but well worth it. Until a few years ago it was a small private stretch of beach. It is located on the windward side of the island just east of Kailau. It has a very small public access path and you can miss it if you blink. Beautiful here.

“Absolute Paradise!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 28, 2005

This is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen! It's absolute paradise with warm sun, swaying palm trees, and calm, crystal clear water with a soft, sandy bottom. You could be standing in the water up to your waist and you can still see your toes. It's never too crowded; there are no resorts on this beach. The sand grains are finer than sugar. You can go pretty far out into the water without it getting too deep. You can kayak to two little offshore islands. I would come back to Oahu just for this beach. It may very well be the most beautiful in the world. I'm surprised it's not a lot more popular than it is. I almost hate to tell people about it for fear that it'll become as crowded as some of the other beaches on Oahu.

I will, however, have to disagree with the comments in the previous review regarding Waikiki Beach. While Lanikai is beautiful and I could probably spend every day of my next trip to Oahu there, Waikiki Beach is an experience in and of itself. The water there is also beautiful with a sandy bottom and the sand on the beach is soft and granular. I didn't think it was at all like a "paved parking lot." It's a beautiful beach and while it's not as nice as Lanikai, it is definitely worth a trip. By the way, at Waikiki Beach, you can find all the things you won't be able to find at Lanikai like surf lessons, parasailing, sailboat rides, etc. Also, the street that runs along the resorts on Waikiki Beach (Kalakaua Ave.) has tons of shops and restaurants!

I can't wait to go back to Oahu!

“#1 Beach in Hawaii...maybe in the world”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 19, 2005

this is the most underrated beach i have ever visited in my life....although it is narrow in some parts...the view is amazing...the water is crystal clear....the sand is incredibly fine...and the best part is....ITS NEVER CROWDED!!!

if you visit Oahu, forget going to Waikiki beach...the sand is course....theres trash here and there....its always crowded...and it feels like you lying on a paved parking lot!...Drive the 30 minutes to Lanikai or take The Bus...route 72 goes right into the village of Lanikai...trust me you wont be sorry you went

I also recommend renting kayacks and traveling out to the two small islands just off the coast
