Relatively easy hike, although can be slippery on the way down. Great view of sunrise or sunset (be sure to take a flashlight if going in the evening).

This is a popular hike that is quick and fun. However people frequently discard their trash and it is very upsetting.
Please if you hike this area, PACK OUT YOUR TRASH, even if it's not yours. Mahalo.

So, after 3 years and 10+ trips to Kailua/Lanikai, myself, my wife, and two kids (16 and 12) did this hike. We did this at about 9 am on A Sunday. As mentioned, many segments of this hike have steep inclines (for example the first few minutes of the hike), but overall it isn't a very long hike. On top, the views were rewarding enough for the one hour (round trip) trek. I had a much harder time on the descent on the steeper inclines than I did while climbing. I saw many very young kids doing this trek, so overall I thought to myself it cant't be THAT bad! A word of caution: I can imagine the train could become slippery in rain and potentially hazardous.

At the bottom the trail is steep and eroded, so it is just a muddy, slippery slope. You just slide backward when you are trying to climb.

Way to many people. Lots of better hikes around the island. Parking is impossible to find and break ins at the trail head are common
