“These guys are the real deal”
Reviewed March 24, 2012

We had a great time canoeing with these guys. They took us out to the twin island across from Lanikai. They were great from start to finish. I'd highly recommend them. Of all the activities we did in Hawaii this was the one with the least planning and the most payoff. Chris was really responsive when we were trying to schedule our trip and when we got on the boat the day was just a pleasure. They took care of everything (lunch, equipment, etc...). They had a lot of local knowledge about the twin islands (and Hawaii in general) and took us to some of the "in the know" spots. There was more they could have showed us by hiking the loop of the island but the surf was strong that day and Chris advised that we don't go. This is the kind of thing we would have had to figure out the hard way if we did not have them guiding us. All in all I felt that these guys are doing it right. They are super experienced, with a lot of local knowledge and really committed to safety but more importantly...they are really committed to making your experience a great one! They are friendly and upbeat and we are so glad we found them. You can tell that they really love what they do and that makes all the difference. For what they offer their price is fair. I would definitely go back there when on Oahu again.

“Adrenalin Rising!”
Reviewed February 19, 2012

The 4 hour Kayak to the Moks was exhiliarating and a good workout. The high winds and waves added just a little danger and extra excitement. Our guides were professional, taught us all the safety precautions and encouraged and helped us through what was truly an adventure, Thank-you to Andy, Ka'iu & Greier. Also, Ka'iu had grown up going to one of the Hawaiian culture and language schools. She spoke the original tongue and knew the legends and lore of the ancient peoples of the islands. It was so interesting and added greatly to our paddling time as we watched for turtles on our way to the Moks.

“Awesome outrigger canoe adventure”
Reviewed January 27, 2012

My husband and I took this terrific outing from Kailua Beach to the Mokulua (Twin) Islands yesterday. This is our first trip to Kailua and while we enjoyed the opportunity to paddle a bit, it was also nice to sit back and let the outboard motor do the work for a good part of the trip.

The views from the water back to Kailua and Lanikai beach, with the mountains looming above, were breathtaking, not to mention the waves gently splashing up over the bow once we got beyond the reef. Glad our guides Wes and Ian had a waterproof sack to keep our things dry.

When we first landed, we enjoyed having the island all to ourselves, including Queen’s Bath tidal pool. So refreshing. Wes and Ian provided water, fruit and delicious poke-flavored edamame as snacks. As we watched kayakers flip over as they tried to land on the island, we were really glad we’d made the trip in the outrigger.

What made the trip special were the stories Wes and Ian shared about themselves, this beautiful place they call home, and their deep appreciation for this wonderful environment. They've only been in business for about 6 months now, so look for them in the HCI surf shop across the street from Boots & Kimo restaurant. This was a highlight of our 2-week trip. Highly recommended!

“Best part of our trip to Hawaii”
Reviewed January 20, 2012

We took out the sailing canoe with Chris and Wes for an amazing day in the ocean and on the beach. This was my family's favorite part of our trip to Hawaii. They made the trip fun and interesting, with lots of good jokes and great information about the area. The hike on the islands we visited was incredible, and we also made a stop at a perfect beach on the way back in. Chris and Wes were way cool, I would reccomend going out on the ocean with them to anyone.

“An excellent, unique way to experience Kailua”
Reviewed November 19, 2011

My partner and I got connected to Kailua Ocean Adventures through friends. Initially, we had planned on renting kayaks and exploring some of the islands... then I recalled how much work it is to kayak - and that was in stable water, not the ocean! Enter Chris and his crew (in this case, a gentleman by the name of Wes). We hopped aboard their kayak and *they* did the work--with the wind's help of course. The trip was so much fun--relaxing but with a few intense surprises courtesy of the waves. Chris and Wes kept us entertained with jokes and some education about the area as we sailed very close to reefs and enjoyed the gentle rocking back and forth of the boat. At the mid-way point, we enjoyed some snacks and drinks on the shore and then made our way home. This is a definite must-do if you're not afraid of getting wet and being on a boat. You might want to take some motion sickness pills if you experience seat sickness. Oh, and wear sunscreen!
